JackJumpers @ Breakers 30/10

This one's going to be a street brawl. Home advantage should get the Breakers just over the line in what should be a close contest.

Street brawl and boy I'm looking forward to it. Both very good teams defensively and good structure offensively plus guys that can get hot shooting it. Abercrombie back I believe.

I’ll just lean to home team, breakers by one.

This should be close as long as NZ turn up at home unlike the last one against SE Melbourne.
I'm hoping that was a one off and NZ come out guns blazing for the fans at Spark.

Real indicator of where the JJs are at.

Have a lot of respect for the way New Zealand are playing, as Dunkman says both good defensively with some threats at the other end.

tipping the Breakers at home, hoping the JJs bring 4 quarters and get the w

Really looking forward to this game. Two teams who have built their game around defence but their last two games have had a great balance of offense and defence. Both teams are well coached and players have all bought in to their coaches style. Go Jackie's.

Decent first quarter. Some excellent defence from both teams, Breakers in the half court and JJ's in transition.
17-15 to NZ at the end of the 1st

Cracking tough first quarter, refs not making up calls, it's refreshing. Commentary is also good, looking like a massive crowd.

Few points:

Why doesn't Fotu play? He had such a good college career but Vodonavich seems to get a lot of burn?

Super humid today in Auckland so bit slippery out there

Why do professional players travel so much - it’s horrendous!

Not the best offense by both teams but I think that’s a product of great defense by both teams

33-25 breakers
Very enjoyable first half, Barry Brown junior being the being the difference offensively. Both sides turning up the screw defensively. JJs looking slightly rattled, let's see what Roth changes at halftime.

Must say I'm sick of coaches and players complaining every call - most of which are completely correct. It’s an absolutely terrible trait.

Macdub,

You are asking why teams are travelling so much in Professional sport. NZ team in an Australian based league. Perth the most remote capital city in the world. It's professional sport.

Fotu seems to have a low basketball IQ. Vodonavich Seems to be grounded since his indiscretion on the plane a few years ago and he hustles.

NZ's suffocating defence causing the JJ’s some problems
NZ also making shots that they were missing earlier to help stretch the lead out

Turned into a massacre, 90-53
JJ's can’t buy a bucket and NZ has cleared the bench

As a United supporter, it's refreshing to see another team get obliterated on a Sunday afternoon.

LOL down by 34 points with 60 seconds left and you are doing full court press and defending as if your life is dependent on it.
Absolute clown show this league

Rupert is an excellent player at just 18

NZ choke you, then run you off your legs.

JJs found out a bit, still should play finals.

NZ very balanced team.

Breakers v kings next week should be a cracker.

Just another ugly game in what's becoming an ugly season. The physicality allowed in the NBL is stupid, doesn't help the league sell itself at all. Thank christ for the Sydney-Cairns game last night, it provided some really good entertainment.

If you don't like watching sides playing defence, maybe you should watch netball.

I watched both after game interviews with Sydney and Cairns coaches, the thing both coaches were so upset with that there sides were bad on D. Buford describe it woeful.

NZ offensively we’re good, they just locked down the other side.

Breakers were outstanding. They are really stamping themselves as the best defensive team in the comp.
Getting Brown back is exactly what they needed... he gives them a go to scorer. They will definitely be in the finals if they keep playing this way.

"If you don't like watching sides playing defence, maybe you should watch netball."

Netball teams play great defence. I love watching good defensive teams, but when teams can grab, push, hold, armbar etc constantly it's not great D, it's just a physical grind.

Any sport requires a good balance of offence/defence to be a really good spectacle, and the NBL is struggling for that at the moment due to the amount of physicality being allowed.

We saw it last year early in the season it was a grudge fest, then an adjustment with the refs tightening up and a much better spectacle in the final third of the season.
