Bullets @ Kings

Tips 7:30pm EST (6:30 QLD).

Kings short favourites here. Expecting a double digit victory for the reigning champs, unfortunately. I can only hope Brisbane don't offer as tepid a performance as they did in Perth.

Kings at home, twenty plus. Just can't see where Brisbane win this.

Good to see they added the timeout feature to the score bug.

Bullets bench hurts them. Cadee must be a good player as commentary keeps telling me he is.

Unless it's just working them back into shape, not sure why Banger, Johnson and Sobey not on the court more.
Agree with Dunkman, Brissy bench comes on and it goes backwards...

Froling, such a cockhead to watch. Still befuddled why he's back in Brisbane, hate it so much.

Three consecutive plays:
1. Hunter burns him for fastbreak layup
2. Needless turnover courtesy of dumb offensive screen
3. Vasiljevic scores on him + foul

And carrying on like a porkchop the entire time.

Sobey and Cadee dribble to much, should never be on the court together. Kings are so well coached.
Hunter putting Froling on the floor was very funny.

If Brisbane weren't tighter than Scrooge McDuck, they should really get some help ASAP and fill that third import spot

Walton is unbelievably good.

Him and & Cotton are head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

Don't know how Cadee keeps getting NBL minutes to be honest. He is a liability on the court

@MACDUB can you tell the commentary that, they think he's a star.

Buford is a very good coach and comedian as well, really enjoyed his work.

Froling is an nbl1 player.

Wow that is the worst reffing I have ever seen in watching 20 years of basketball. I think the refs just want their name in paper. Just let the boys play, the fans are not there to watch the refs ruin a game they want to watch free flowing basketball. Absolutely terrible

As long as Baynes is relaxed and having fun, there's hope for Brisbane.

Maybe he’s having such fun cos he’s watching Harry try to be an NBL player.

All the nbl refereeing in the nbl is crap. The call some of the worst crap, and make up calls.

Kings back to back, it took Smith a few years but this organisation now is at the top, from the top down.

The good news for Brisbane is there next game is at home, the bad news it's against the kings. Brisbane bench is so week, I’d like to see Bach play more as he does try defensively, Sobey is used to being a star but his defence tonight was horrible. Baynes should be used inside more, there just doesn’t seem to be much thought into anything Brisbane do.

Felt Brisbane got a few bad calls down the stretch.

But watching them in the first two games its clear an Elite Australian centre whilst good , does not really bring you back into winning territory like an elite import guard which is what they need.

Cadee way too many minutes, you put a cotton , Wilton , Harvey on the brisbane team and you have a whole different look and someone to close out matches with.

Brisbane seems to continually go against the trend of hiring decent/elite NBL imports in the guard spot when success around the league seems to generally have at least 1 elite US import in the guard spot.

Brisbane don't have an elite centre at the moment, nor do they have an elite guard. However they do have the highest-credentialed centre and highest-credentialed guard.

Once Baynes, Johnson and Sobey get back into match shape they will have three very high level players and will be a lot better team. Coach needs to figure out how to best use them too. Until both those things happen there will be some tough nights.

Brisbane not only having to deal with a thin bench, but the weakest coaching staff in the league. Honestly speaking, I don't think Vandy and PC would get a gig anywhere else. Imaging little meaningful development occurring when Duncan has to pull all the reins himself.

Brisbane's list management is like someone with the munchies going to the servo at midnight. Just grabbing anything that looks good without concern of how it fits in the light of day.
Cadee and Sobey aren't true point guards, can fill in there temporarily, but as mentioned, over dribble. Froling, who very occasionally does something good that might make you think maybe he might figure it out and be NBL standard. But then the other 99% has you shaking you're head going wtf. Surely has to be his last season, can't keep using the potential tag.
Wouldn't have surprised me if they had added Jawai in the off season. But there's still injury replacement I guess.

Cadee is definitely a PG, one of the highest IQ players in the comp. But he's a low-level start or a high-level reserve as defensively he isn't great.

Sobey and Johnson are combo guards, but I think once both of them get into match shape and get rid of rust the three-guard combo will work well, especially as Baynes gets fitness and form back. Bullets fans just need to be patient.

Disappointing they still haven't recruited a defensive specialist in the backcourt though, that's been an Achilles heel since they've come back into the comp.

I cringed when first seeing them with their clipboards last season. Bullets need to fill these spots with credentialed coaches and not just any warm body that was an ex-NBL player.

Cadee's one of the dumbest players in the league, can't play PG for shit. He's a SG really and a very ordinary one at that. Only three seasons in his 11 year NBL career he has managed to shoot above 40% from the field and this season is already off to a flyer at 22%.

Bullets fans have been patient ever since they got back in the league, they are 0-2 and early wins are crucial. With a top 6 now they might scrape into finals but they better get going.

Cadee high iq player, he over dribbles and makes some dumb plays, which the commentary team always seem to overlook but scream how good he is if does anything half decent.

I agree on the coaching, though JD preaches that and I don't see improvement.

I think maybe the biggest thing Baynes brings the Bullets at this stage of his career is his leadership. I didn't appreciate/notice it during the broadcast of the Wildcats game, but seeing the game live last night whenever he was on the bench or even on the court he was taking guys aside continuously and providing the kind of leadership that I haven't seen from the Bullets squads of the past couple of years.

I think the Bullets will be fine and should be top 6. Sobey clearly not even 75%, Tyler at about 80% and should be a 20 point a night threat when he gets his legs under him. Baynes showed glimpses but ran out of gas, I expect he'll be a 15-10 guy after a few rounds. Depth isn't great and they need one or two of the role players to really step up (Krebs in particular). The PG thing... I can only assume it was on of Sobey's conditions re: signing with the Bullets.

As for the Kings, Walton Jr sort of reminds me of Steve Nash with his combination of patience and play making ability, Simon is a defensive pest but also an improved offensive player, Soares has shown glimpses. It was an impossible task replacing the three imports we had last year, but early signs are that we've done about as well as you could realistically hope.

"Cadee's one of the dumbest players in the league"

Happy for you to believe that, but I will personally put more credence in what his coaches think of his basketball IQ:

"His IQ is off the charts, I don't like saying it in front of him but he has a complete understanding for the game," James Duncan R16, 2022 v New Zealand.

"Jase is a quality player as we know, and he is probably the smartest basketball player I know. You are always confident the team is going to be organised and under control and good things are going to happen when he is on the floor," Andrej Lemanis R8, 2020 v Melbourne.

Baynes spent a bit too much time bombing away from outside last night. He needs touches inside. No one is going to be able to body him in the block in this league. Other than that I think the problem is the coaching.

Baynes should be getting touch after touch in the low block, even if it's just as a passing option sometimes. He's the guy other teams are most worried about, except when he's standing on the three-point line!

Not just that but in the four full years Lemanis/Duncan have coached Cadee at the Bullets they've only made the playoffs once.

Jason 'IQ' Cadee the guy who declared for the NBA Draft after averaging 7 points a game at the 36ers and a few years ago decided to start up his own JC5 clothing line.
