Nunawading Losing coaches

Does anyone know what's happening at Nunawading? They’ve lost over half their coaches, 6 have followed the former DOC to Dandenong and apparently 10 or more going to other clubs or retiring.

Maybe just relationships were better

It's certainly not a good thing! That DOC now at Dandenong had been involved at Nunawading for over 30 years plying and coaching. Relationships may well be the reason for the exodus.

Hard to know. Many of the so-called elite junior coaches take themselves way too seriously and think just a little too much of themselves. They coach for their own benefit not the kids' benefit. This makes them do seemingly strange things. In junior rep ball the grass is rarely greener.

Be interesting to see how many players go across to Rangers.. Is there still the rule about 2 transferring per team? If there is does that apply to Hawthorn players?

Hawthorn is back so there's no change for those players.

Will be interesting to see how thrilled those planning to leave Hawthorn will be with that news.
Makes the shift to Dandy for players a lot more competitive.

I wouldn't of thought too many would want to go to Dandenong from Hawthorn, there are options a lot closer geographically.

Looks like Hawthorn Magic is set to rise form the ashes, with BV reinstating the standard transfer restrictions.

Nunawading coaching lineup is set to be announced this week and there are some nice additions.

Apparently Hawthorn threatened action that would have halted all VJBL play. In the spirit of participation of course. BV had no choice but to start cartwheeling backwards. Hopefully gives a bit more stability to try outs at other clubs though.

This is so typical of a club like Hawthorn, years of overpaying coaches and bring kids from other clubs in their program. Somehow get their director who overseas the how finical issue gets a promotion to CEO basketball Australia and now when someone steps in to put a stop to it a group of rich parents "for the good of their kids" threatens to stop every other kid in Victoria from playing!

Hopefully this is enough for any family at Hawthorn to leave on their own!

Good to see Nunawading's coach list go up today. Obviously a few new faces, but with change comes opportunity.

Spectres had 22 coaches walk away. Most of the coaches are very disillusioned with the club and feel that there is now no support for them there now. There new coaching group has a couple of coaches that have coaching experience but is made up of people who have not coached or have only been assistant coaches. They did try to retain some of the coaches at the eleventh hour but most felt it was too little too late. Many sad parents to see such a powerhouse group of coaches leave. On a brighter note the parents have been hosting retirement parties for the coaches that we have been so fortunate to have had coach our children.

Spare a thought for the Dandenong coaches who have to make way for influx of Nunawading coaches! At least transparent before trials.
