Can someone please explain to me how a 28 year old can be a development player? Or is this a case of the NBL making shit up on the fly as they do with the Next Stars rules.

The development player rule is 24 and under I think.

I don't know this guy's age but I remember him playing in the SA state league more than a number of years ago too, he would be a lot closer to 28 than 24 IMO.

Yep he's 28 born March 24, 1994 in Melbourne.

I can't stand this stuff with the NBL changing rules on the fly, no way a 28 yo guy should be allowed to be a DP. If you're not good enough to make an NBL roster at that age bad luck, you could even argue 24 and under is too lenient.

Wrong Lual Diing guys, their photos are completely different. Should have gone to Specsavers Pablo.

His DOB is 2/10/1998.

Who would have thought there would be more than one person in this world with the same name?

Seriously, look at this thing called the internet and follow the trail. Not hard to research people these days. If it's the Diing who played for Central Districts last year in NBL1 Central (like the Brisbane Bullets press release says it is) then he has the birthdate of March 24, 1994.
Who would've thought people lie about their age?

Not the first time this has occurred. The most egregious example being a certain player from WA.

Not really sure why it matters what age to be honest.

I'd have no qualms abolishing the age restriction.

I can’t think of where it matters whether it’s a mature age DP or a youthful DP.

With 11/12 sized rosters not including DP, for a 28 game season of 40mins (or 14 if that rule still applies?), not sure DP is going to get much time to play when you’ve got so many blokes ahead of you.

Add in the pay DPs get, and it’s not going to be an effective loophole in any way.

I wouldn’t care if someone like Adam Doyle for instance was a long-time DP.

Mistaken identities it seems.

Diing Lual (also known as Diing Diing Wol or Diing Lwal Diing) was born March 24, 1994.

Lual Diing was born October 5, 1998.

Strangely, they were both on the Central Districts Lions team on April 17, 2021.

Lual Diing #2 34 minutes 18 points

Diing Lual #32 2 minutes 0 points

If you check the video playback, they were playing together for the last 2:20 of the second quarter.

Diing Lual started the 2021 season with Central Districts and then joined Eastern Mavericks mid season.

I think Lual has an older brother that looks just like him.

However being a SA native I remember vividly Lual playing for both SA Metro and Forestville Eagles many many years ago. He is most definitely at least 26/27 years. NBL should investigate no doubt.
