BNE vs. ADL 03/04/2022
Another fourth quarter fadeout by the Sixers.
At least they are consistent.

Uncle Dre - yes. IIRC, twice with Marty Clarke coaching. Not sure whether we also finished bottom once under Scott Ninnis. I think not.

CJ done ok with a team of two imports that are bench players at best, he'll stay and hopefully gets to pick his own team next season instead of JVG best shooter to ever play in nbl rubbish. Humphries being out didn’t help either, I don’t bring him back on late money either if at all.

The 36ers finished with three wooden spoons during the SOS ownership years, the second year under Scott Ninnis and the second and third years under Marty Clarke. If not for the Sydney Kings rejoining the NBL in Clarke's first year and fielding a budget team we may have won four straight wooden spoons.

No way do the Sixers move on Cj.
They need to build some continuity and he's shown enough positives with the cards he’s been dealt.

Cj must stay. He didn't select this team ..done remarkably well to geyl te group. One pointer lost away says team very competitive.. take away cadee picnic fest earlier its sixer game...

CJ stay, but Kelly has to go. Gone from bad to worse since he's been there.

I don't understand the logic in saying Kelly has to go, he owns the team...only way he would leave is if there is a buyer (and as it’s a business at a profit or whatever ROI he would have in mind).
Without the silly answers (which I can see already) what would they be worth and what were they originally purchased for?

Cadee again showed up to play against the sixers...seems has always something to proof against team..sobey be awesome pick up.. playing one import just fall short. Lots and lots to like. Harris is another keeper. DJ again showing he is heart of the team.. Frank's be worth a sneaky have a chat chat .. next season is pivotel in sixers dev.. must be year of growth.. reckon we edging towards renewal.

Nothing wrong with CJ
He'll do better if he picked his own team
The current imports would be average nbl1 players in my opinion

Based on what we see in the huddles on the broadcast, I've actually been impressed by CJ. He doesn't have the roster to get wins - Humphries' injury combined with probably the least impactful imports in the league is not going to get it done, wouldn't really matter who is coaching them. It would be idiotic to make a coaching change again IMO, they need some stability - too many years of poor performances and coaching instability, and the best way to turn it around is to try and build a foundation. Lots of changes needed to the roster.

Did the previous coach have the luxury of picking his squad or not being told how many minutes management had told new players they will get?
Zodiac
Years ago
Highly unlikely. It's a bit of an odd thing that tends to get pedaled on here but coach's get players/minutes quotas etc foisted on them all the time. There was no way Joey Wright wanted Randle back after they supposedly fell out at the end of his first stint with the club but the owner wanted him back and even cut Joey's guy Deshon Taylor to do so.

On CJ's coaching honestly I think he's done a reasonable job given all the challenges he's faced. Humphries virtually never played, Bairstow's out injured to be expected, two dud imports, the GM no doubt a close friend of his departing mid-season, the big McCarron signing essentially blowing up in their face and DJ looking as disinterested as ever.
I guess it remains to be seen if CJ leaves or not but I doubt the Sixers want to be paying multiple HC's again next season so I think it's unlikely he'll be fired.

CJ won't get the tap on the shoulder. But just because he gets to pick his own team means nothing. His management of this group has been head scratching at times. Whether you picked the players or not, there is some basic coaching structures/management you stick to. These players don't know whether they are Arthur or Martha with the constant changing of lineups. You could play 20 mins one game and not hit the court the next. Why is that going to change once he can pick his own players?

I would argue if as a coach you've been handed a crap roster as he has it's best to find out what you do or don't have which is why some players court time will fluctuate.
Bairstow in part due to Humphries' absence played himself into the starting lineup not that he and DJ were ever going to be a great fit together, Dufelmeier who should've been getting minutes from the start is now looking like the solid back up PG we all thought he would be and Harris too has now been given the opportunity to show he warrants another contract next season.

Given who the owner has been sitting with at home games I'd think CJ is safe and he's replaced one self proclaimed basketball guru with another one. At least this one has the on court cred.

If there was a top notch coach available I would happily bring Goorj on board as Head of Basketball Operations and CJ can remain with the club for the duration of his contract picking up garbage after the game with McCarron.
I fully understand CJ has been dealt an awful hand with roster construction and injuries, but that has NEVER ever stopped a team from letting a coach go, Connor Henry and Adam Forde (Sydney) being a recent example, David Fizdale at NY Knicks as an NBA example.
While I sympathise with CJ, I am not convinced he is the coach we need.
Firstly what is our goal / objective next season? Not being bottom 3? Playoffs? Championship ?
Part of Hannahs' issue has been coaching, the offence dies all to easily and its scramble mode where someone not designed to be a shot creator has to fashion something from nothing. His inability to use Hannahs (and Withers) reflects on his coaching, will that actually improve if we had (good not elite) imports like Siva and Cleveland?
The defence is also horrible, second worst in defensive efficiency, again, well aware that Humphries was out but he has been out for a long time and there has been no impactful adjustments.
If we want to be also-rans, yes, keep CJ.
If we are serious about a championship tilt, I think we need someone else with more experience, even at the cost of another new coach in as many years.

Just so much chuck out the baby with the bath and water crap.. where is the stability as a priority.. chance change .. no stability and build a plan and stick to it. There's the core gut issue no planning reactive always burnt the bridge.. give CJ a few crack to show what a rebuild under him looks like. Found tad and Harris bairstow so some pieces are falling into next step prigress...

Should really have gone with CH this season, his sacking over rumours of how he wanted to use DJ shows what a shit show it was with management, the same DJ that has a sook over any little thing that doesn't go his way. Has been a very good player with the club for a long time, but cannot put him in the class of legends like Maher or Davis. They might dedicate one of the toilets to him when he retires, the Daniel Johnson Rest Rooms, but that's about all.
Club should have backed CH, see how he went this season and then worked out if a change needed to be made. Wasn't his greatest fan, but apart from having to pay him, we get a rookie coach who has struggled at times. Now we're stuck with him for another year just to see if he can turn it around. Sixers could have been looking for an experienced head coach now, just because DJ was a sooky lala about coming off the bench.
