Yudai Baba is back with United

Just heard on my Melbourne United email.

Dear Club & Elevate Members,
We want you to be the first to know that Yudai Baba has signed for the remainder of the NBL22 season!

Baba played 36 games for United last season, providing instant energy whenever he was on the floor, helping propel us during our Championship run.

The Japanese local will rejoin the team following a stint in the NBA G League with the Texas Legends, where he averaged 12.5 points and 5.4 rebounds.
Baba will be travelling to Australia this week and will be made available to suit up for the team as soon as possible following his arrival.

We will be sharing the exciting news on our website and social media very soon.

Making moves for finals

Clark to Sydney
Baba to United
Brown to Perth
Sem could bring in another, drop someone or replace injured Broekhoff
Illawara - no need, can't

Wow! Exciting, everyone loves Baba

I assume he'll take Newley's minutes. Incredibly, one of the best defensive teams of all time may have just gotten better

But, he kind of improves United's strengths - Defense, transition, hustle - without significantly improving the one weakness that I believe could potentially bring them undone- the need for a 3rd creative one-on-one scorer in half court settings, to support CG and JLA in a playoff grind

It mentions he's an nominated injury replacement player, so if the injured player comes back doesn’t that mean he can play and doesn’t qualify for finals?

He's replacing Dalton who should have never been signed in the first place.

Callum Dalton did his ACL recently - so won't be back this season

A nice addition for MU, I agree with others, he improves their strengths but they need another player who can create their own shot.

I'm really shocked that another club didn’t reach out to try and get Baba, I mean even neutrals admire the way he plays the game and can see he benefits whomever he plays for.

Not bad G-League stats either
