Breakers Vs United 14/01

The Breakers who are undefeated in 2022 and Melbourne United square off behind closed doors tonight in Hobart.

Abercrombie remains out but Rob Loe is back for NZ.

Hopefully NZ can put up another win but United won't lay down and NZ will need to play very well for 40mins to get this one.

Some good matchups here worth watching.

Siva Vs Delly.
Wetzell Vs JLA.
WMD (WMW) vs CG43?

Excited to watch this one because I honestly think the Breakers may have turned a corner and could have a good run over the next 5-10 games and get to 0.500. Siva vs Dellavedova and JLA / Hukporti vs Wetzell is where this game will be won and lost. Everyone else will cancel each other out.

I also like Melbourne this year, it's not as star studded as previous years but they play well as a team. I just hope Vickerman doesn't scream the entire game because it really detracts from the viewing experience.

Breakers are not as bad as their record might suggest but United are the wrong team for them to run into now. United comfortably.

Breakers are a sneaky chance, just think United are tougher.

Tough isn't a word I’d use to describe United. Goulding is on their squad.

Why behind closed doors? Because indoor events are higher risk than outdoors?

Big crowd at the Test match today

NZ may have found some form. This should be close.

Goulding is tough, he's a star, just to many haters.

So, no crowd then? If so advantage Breakers. The HCA advantage and roar of the crowd other sides have is huge.

NZ have talent but poor roster construction. Siva, Martin, WMDW & Hugo are all ball dominate guards.

I hope everyone is enjoying watching Siva and that includes the stubborn naysayers.

Melbourne are a good counter for the Breakers style. They have super aggressive guards with elite rim protection (for this league). They are a tough unit with Delly, Ili, Agada active on the perimeter then JLA, White and Hukporti behind them.

JLA clearly winning the big man duel. Wetzel got better stats but not in it.

JLA, not Wetzell, is the best big in the league. He just needs to stop shooting 3s!

Siva making Ili look foolish again. You take away Goulding's shooting, which is incredible, and Breakers win this.

Besson so overrated, be lucky to go 2nd round. Martin never seen a shot he doesn't like, as someone else stated , breakers not balanced across the floor.
United just to good all over.
Great interview between stuie and Goulding.

Goorg v Vickerman on Sunday could be a great contest of the coaches.

2nd chance points 13 to 5, thats the game

NZ look much better with Siva and Martin in rhythm, but they need to get tougher, scrappier, better rebounding and rim protection if they're going to get the wins

Having said that Abercrombie will help, he's less ball dominant, a good defender who always competes

Looking fwd to elite defensive unit United playing the high scoring Hawks and their arsenal of gun scorers playing a fast pace. United has been good but haven't played any of the Big 3 teams in a while

If Goulding is the star we've been sold then Melbourne should return to the finals. Let’s see if that happens...

Some of Goulding's shots were ridiculous. Agada described it fairly that Goulding is the Curry of this league and that there are very few players globally who can shoot like that. Sure, we’ve seen some great shooters like Penney and others, but Goulding has a unique swag not often seen down under.

Shout out to Peatling too. He abused Dieng.

Maybe you should watch Goulding, he is a star. Commentary sell us lot BS yes on lots of players but Goulding ain't one.

If you're talking pure 3 point shooting CG could be the best this league has ever seen

And I say that as a long time Tigers and NBL fan who had front row seats for Gaze, Copes plus regularly saw Rillie, Heal, Maher etc. None of those guys- even the Goat Drewy, my favourite player of all time- were as adept as CG at hitting deep threes under pressure

Of course this is partly a function of how bball has evolved. Players should only be compared within the context of their time so of course CG has a natural advantage if your doing a straight comparison

The make up of Uniteds roster means CG has more opportunities to score than he has ever before in a United uniform, so this should remain one of the highest scoring seasons of his career, as it currently is (18.2ppg)
