Hopefully it's Jackjumpers or Cairns. Although Kings with 3 Makers would be epic.

I think if he ends up in the NBL it will be between Perth and Melbourne. Sydney are sorted inside. Cairns wont have the money. Jack Jumpers probably dont have the money and/or are settled with Magnay. Whereas Melbourne is starting with JLA, who is probably closer to 6th man than starting center. And Perth have Hodgson, who hasn't proven he can take on the workload.

Honestly I didn't think he would cut it over there as an import, I don't think Exum will either. Their NBA careers are over so time to come back home to the NBL, Thon this season and Exum next season a likely replacement for Creek at SEM.

Breakers could use some extra big bench depth. Galloway isn't ready for minutes and Loe is past it now.

How good would Maker be in the NBL?

I don't think he’d dominate, but would be in the top few centres in the league.

thon maker should come home still early 20s a yr or two of avging double doubles in the nbl could get him back to the nba

Thon's real age coming into play now.
If was reported age, would be on the up, instead it looks clear the question marks that were never answered (the high school yearbook that was just never denied or debunked?!) look to be true, hes peaked and on the plateau/downward spike in his career. If could accept that would come back and be a great nbl starter, or if determined to keep up the facade and try and beat Father Time.

Carbon copy of deng Adel. Same age queries for years.
Gets you ahead early but comes back to bite you in the ass quickly

Could not get on in Israel, nbl 1 maybe, most overhyped player ever and there have been a few. At least he's got some coin behind him.

There's a few other kids coming thru SA, Vic and NSW with the same age question marks. Likely headed for the same type of careers. As their real ages catch up with them.

For Thon I think Sydney might be the destination joining his brother and cousin there plus Jordan Hunter is out injured at the moment, that or back home to Perth.

I could see Tassie signing Creek, he would be a PR disaster for a lot of teams but the JJ's missed out on landing a big fish in Year 1 (Delly, Kay etc) and had to settle for Magnay on a 1 year deal. Might be a bit iffy PR wise but the JJ's need an out an out star player so marriage of convenience.

They got enough very average players, don't be fooled by the media. Roth maybe could turn him around, not convinced though. He’s no budget player either,

JJ's need a competitive team. Not just adding single players because they become available. Oh and a new coach who would be stuck with the stupid long term signings of chumps.

Agree that JJ's need to be competitive, but not sure they would want to be changing the roster too much in the first season. It would go against the culture aspect Roth is pushing hard with.

The culture Roth has instilled in these players is to select players with a chip on their shoulder to prove a point to the JJ's and themselves. The trouble is that these sort of players actually don't have the ability to do that on the scoreboard. Perth will tell.
Roth also said in the paper yesterday that he was happy to have all their games where the opposition teams score 60-70+ ppg. he is living in another world if he seriously thinks that can be achieved.

"games where the opposition teams score 60-70+ ppg"

That works if you score more than 60-70 ppg!! But that ain't happening yet.

Can't copy the online version but here it is.
"We are living in the realm that I want to live in defensively which is holding people to high 60s to low 70s defensively but our offence is not there," Roth said.

I could see Thon Maker play for Melbourne United. JLA can score but there's still lots of questionmarks if he can defend at a high level.

Dean Vickerman subbed JLA twice in the game for not playing proper defence.

Thon Maker is talented, but I could see him getting into foul trouble like JLA. Perth makes sense too with their injuries. Watch this space guys.

Tassie in most need. An underperforming Magnay (still-getting-over-injury?), with an extra-ordinarily ordinary back-up (sorry Krslovic) and a DP.

And remember, that at his best, at Brisbane, where he got a chance at the NBA, Magnay was playing the 4.

Could Maker and Magnay work together?
Could JJ's afford Maker?
Would they have to release some-one (for Maker)?

Good questions RobT, interested to see where he ends up.

Could Maker and Magnay work together?

Yep reckon Magnay would benefit from Maker being alongside.

Could JJ's afford Maker?

Think so, they say they are cashed up. Maybe not reflective in their current squad?

Would they have to release some-one (for Maker)?

Not sure. Believe they have a full list.

CSKA Moscow just sacked there 4 man and are not travelling great for them. Maker could be on radar. Big money club.

Really interesting Matt Logue is saying that Thon is being shopped with Anthony Bennett. Also some teams are not liking his off-field connections, Logue did mention Ed Smith a long term coach. But Smith is also involved with Thons cousin and brother so i dont see the issue?

What can he really do? He was drafted on potential to be a 7 footer shooting 3s. Plenty of way better and consistent players out there.
Highlights of him arguably against kids younger than him won't cut it anymore.

Thon into the G League. I think its a good decision although maybe a month or two late. Almost certainly would have picked himself up one of those hardship 10 days had he been playing G League earlier and then you never know what can happen.

Good luck to him
