Kings 'saddened' by Hawks spying

https://twitter.com/psmithtse/status/1467666775303098369?t=NtsbvyySYiOvOlOwz3p6Cg&s=19

Paul Smith has commented on a story about the Hawks spying on a Kings training session.

Hawks owner has said: "It's just the insecurities of the Kings seeing the Hawks come to life and be built into a respected force in a short period of time," Kordahi said.

Is this just a storm in a tea cup

Nailed it.

Lovely retort by Kordahi.

You have to remember that (in basketball circles anyway) Smith is the Laughing-Stock of Wollongong, and constantly feels he has a point to prove.

He is literally the local boy made good. Went from humble beginnings in the Gong, to build a $200M business.

For some reason, when it came time to venture into actual ownership, he decided he'd outgrown the Gong, and instead opted to purchase their hated rivals. Maybe it was ego, and his need to prove that he'd (figuratively) left the Illawarra behind???
Or maybe he honestly thought the Hawks were beyond salvation??

Whatever the reason, he poured tens of millions into the Kings trying to buy a championship and came up short, again, and again.

Then, you have to wonder... All those rumours that Goorj was going to return to the Kings,
but instead he returns to Australia and lobs up down the road.

And now, at every opportunity, Goorj and the Hawks just make the Kings look BAD.

I heard (can't vouch for the veracity) that he actually did want to purchase the Hawks initially, but couldn't get it across the line.

Was it the Hawks or NRL Dragons you're thinking of?

Nothing to see here except Smith creating a story out of nothing.
Does he really think Kordahi would be interested in the X's and O's?? Let alone explain them to the coaching staff? I am sure the same coaching staff already have scouted every play the Hawks have already. No wonder people don't like Smith.

It was definitely the Hawks (discussing with other fans last season at a game), but someone may have been confusing it with the Dragons (I wasn't aware of that).

As for the topic, obviously like the pre-season back and forth he is hyping up the game, nothing wrong with that. Hoping to see lots of traveling Hawks fans in the arena like the good old days.
