Gaze says NBL will start late-Nov to early-Dec

On SEN Dwayne's World Andrew Gaze was being interviewed and he said that the NBL will start late November to early December.

You can count out 18th November start. Thoughts?

When they will start is not the question.

How will they start? Even in December, some states will not open up to VIC and NSW.

The SA health system is experiencing emergency room ramping and this is before we open up, I fear for the health system if we get even a portion of VIC's infection rates let alone the projections made to date.

NBL needs to start after the Asia Cup qualifiers. Who knows which states borders will open by then?

I love Gaze but I suspect he's probably being as optimistic as ever with these predictions. I think now in the first week of October you can probably rule a line through any November start. Early December seems too early to me I think late December will be more likely. Who knows could even be a mid-January start again like last season.

The NBL should at least wait to see how NSW (and VIC) goes after their freedom days.

2nd weekend in December, I've heard the clubs have been told, though Gaze would be aware of that so not certain why he’s saying end November.

December would be good. I really hope United could play a game on Christmas Eve, but I know they will probably have the Boxing Day match like usual.

If it starts in late November I'll fall off my chair in surprise.

Optimistically, early December would be nice.

But the above questions are valid- with 4 teams from the COVID states, 5 from non-COVID states and then NZ, how will this be managed?

Just heard that the season opening is double-header on Dec 3 with Tas v Ade in Hobart as "season-opener" and Per v Bri in Per.
