That would be good for all concerned. The Breakers desperately need a scorer after Tai's departure and Hopson needs to rehab his stock after his somewhat disappointing season off the bench at Melbourne last season.

Anyone know why he didn't resign with Melb?

United likely thought they could get similar production from a cheaper player.

Ironically Breakers-era Hopson is probably what United need this season with the roster they have.

Be happy to see him back.
He was great last time round and that's exactly what the guy who replaced him was, round.

It's a business. I don’t blame Hopson going back to the Breakers. United spent big on their roster last season with Landale. It will bite United this season. Can’t see Melbourne United making the top-4 with one import. Majority of United players are in their 30s.

Hopson still has unfinished business in New Zealand. His first season was better, but he was injured for majority of the season.

4th spot was so close in 2019/20. Three teams were equal on win-loss and it came down to percentage. Tiebreakers are more fair in my opinion.

He struggled last year to be consistent, but there were still moments where he showed his class. I think last season was not entirely a reflection that he was poor, just he wasn't the right fit for a stacked United side.

Hopson would allow NZ to run the French kids for impact off the bench and have reliable scoring options and good flexibility with him offering size and length at the 2 spot but able to slide up to the 3.

Siva* / WMW
Hopson* / Besson* / Bach
Abercrombie / Dieng
Delaney / Galloway
Wetzell / Loe

Breakers are looking strong. Big shame they can't travel to Australia. It will be a big factor in how their season will pan out.

Wow, Hopson?

Gets injured all the time. Not a impactful player. New Zealand will have another shit season.

The Breakers already signed an American combo guard who was in the NBA the past two seasons. Much better player and career than Hopson, but far younger. Will be announced in the coming days.

League caught up to Hopson, we found that out last year. The breakers could do better. Dudes 32 years old also!

Hopson can be a focal point of the 2nd unit. Last season that's where he found his groove.

Has slowed somewhat- don't expect the 19-20 Hopson if Shamir puts him in the starting 5.

People are saying Jeremiah Martin is headed to the Breakers. Played a few games for the Nets. 6ft 2", looks quick and can shoot the ball.

Be interesting to see if this is true.
