Does any one know why Wyndham missed out after being the odds on favourite to get in?
Is this expansion or are there clubs that will move down to Big V?

They have enough teams already , hopefully a couple will drop into big v or it takes the elite level away when you have too many teams ..
Casey only entered a Big V team (In Division 3) in 2010. In 11 years they have gone through each Division and now are in second best league in the country.
Their Womens team only joining in 2012.
Thats a rapid rise through the rankings. Well done to all involved.
Wyndham will be fine. Rebuilding after a collapse of their junior programs quality. They've employed the people to fix that. It's actually a blessing for them. They won't have money sucked out of them by NBL1 trying to keep up that they can redirect into player development. Keilor, probably the right decision. Good club strong Youth league and big catchment. Casey was probably geography and a lot of lobbying the right people. Will need to buy a team though. Current group are average at best.

surely Div 1 & SCM Merge and the poor teams go to Div 2 and both leagues are made into conferences.
Awesome work from the Thunder and Casey
#299, what State Champ ? Of the 10 teams in it, 2 have gone to NBL1 South, and the bottom two won 4 out of 28 games between them, and 2 of those wins were against each other. That leaves 6 teams have SC 'quality'. There's barely enough teams left for that Division.
*They need to scrap the State Champ name for starters. Cna't have that whem 20 or whatever of the biggest clubs in the state aren't even playing in the competition.
*The rest of the comp needs a MAJOR shake up. Start at the top and work your way down. Set the amount of teams per Division and stick to it. Allow one up and one down each year. Any new teams need to start at the bottom Division and work there way up on merit.
*Reduce the amount of Youth League teams. Only allow a YL team if your senior team is in the top Division or NBL1.
Random question- will Casey be the only NBL1 club without a single plate on the roster who came through their VJBL ranks?
Casey ditched their juniors long ago only their long term goal of getting to this level. Haven't had any homegrown talent since they went up to D1, had maybe one or two tokens at best.
Keilor at least won a few titles. Not sure what their junior contingent is like.
Catch 22, how do you progress through divisions without ditching juniors and recruiting?
Only a Victorian problem really.

Back in the day, Keilor were committed to having their entire team from their junior system, except one (or maybe 2?) players.
In their first 2 seasons they had Peter Pokai who had played for NZ in the 2000 Olympics, he was 39 or so when he joined Keilor in 2004.
Have they kept this commitment going? How many Keilor juniors in their Championship Division team this season?

Big V top division is "Championship" not "state championship" anymore
That state title was dropped 3 years ago when NBL1 came in . Where have you all been hahaha

Looks like big v championship will just be 8 teams? with 2 gone. Will be interesting to see if they go with 8? keysy only one i would say that would be competitive
Keysie far from it. Especially with Lampkin gone
Pretty sure there is at least 3 former junior Casey players on the roster
