NBL1 Central Week 2 Finals

Some exciting and close games last week, North survived a scare from Southern whose fairytale season ended while Norwood and Forestville featured plenty of highlights with Norwood coming out on top.

Sturt vs Norwood
Sturt sputtered into finals after losing a few key players to college but the extra practice time with a week off will allow them to reset. Even without Rasmussen they have the best back court in the league with Daly and Spear one of which will be asked to slow down Turnage. Green the X factor for Norwood along with Ray Harding who turned the corner recently and had some strong performances. Norwood also had a contribution from Jansen off the bench which helps their cause.

Norwood just a bit too big and talented for a well drilled Sabre team. Flames by 6.

Forestville vs North
The Eagles will be kicking themselves after losing to Norwood at home despite holding the lead for a lot of the game. Their starting 5 now with Malith Machar included is huge and gives other teams all kind of matchup problems particularly when Rios is shooting well. North rely heavily on McVeigh and while he is good they will need to find more contributors to keep this one competitive.

Forestville by 11.

Sturt have contained Green both encounters on the scoreboard, just watching game and highlights, Mays was lazy on defence and boxing him out. Squeaked past them in final weekend but took all around scoring from everyone to beat Sturt, going to need that again. Should be close, bad finish to regular season, then having a break while Norwood had a great hitout may give slight edge to flames but wouldn't surprise if Sturt take it.
Someone mentioned Dech was returning this week, can't see it happening, far more important he's right for Sixers than a little bit of cash, doubt he would know all his teammates names. Dowdell will need to be switched on to contain Mays inside. Someone is going to have a whinge, but Dean really has struggled this year, even without the 2 Sixers they had Purchase for a few plus a decent line-up, but just scraped into finals and took a last second miracle steal off worst pass of year to go into overtime. Sum of North's parts haven't added up and while Eagles miss safety blankets in Deng and Teys from previous years, the still have experience. If it turns into shootout between Harris and McVeigh, that might be the deciding factor. As well as Brines health.

Have to say looking at West and North it's pretty embarassing the lack of news from BSA regarding finals. Yes we've had the awards night but nothing else to report ahead of semis?

081, just no.

The organisation (his employer) will make that decision either way. The lack of a coach is irrelevant.

Breaking news : DJ, Teys and Deng will be suiting up for Forestville tonight. Apparently their lawyers have found an obscure bylaw allowing this and BSA have agreed to let them play. North's lawyers are countering by getting Drmic and Purchase, plus also asking permission for Starling to get an immediate transfer arguing he is a true Rockets player at heart and didn't he suffer enough playing for South this season.

Unlike the false position above Dech and North have overcome late appeal to disqualify home from tonight's game. It’s a bit like déjà vu from what happened in first meeting this year between the two teams

So when DJ started a game in sneakers and immediately subbed out, as he did in others, to solely qualify for finals, that was respectful? Karma bus arrived tonight.
Oh, and Rios was only supposed to play sparingly throughout season.
Bye bye cheatgles!!!

Since when are minutes dictated by admin... play by the rules...many players start and are subbed out immediately for all sort of reasons... is not rules against subbing limitations. Always coach prerogative.. rocket taken curious road at what expense - and Rio's been very long time eagle that's loyalty... let's what for other to follow pathway

Rios was loyal, Forestville weren't. That's why he went to Mavs.

Ragles again were given an exemption for Rios, god knows why, for this season on the basis his minutes would be limited. They haven't played fair at NBL1 level for a decade. To complain now about losing to two mid-level NBL players is poor.

Either its second tier or is a local development league. People want whichever suit their club position at the time. All clubs have spent big and at other times gone local.

Move on

Make no mistake Easy As. Forestville didn't complain. Andy complained.

As anyone who got the bylaws changed so that he could wear shorts would.

That BSA continue to let this guy re-write rules to suit himself is honestly pathetic.

Why do your coaches wear hats and shorts in finals games?

It really takes away from your claim that your league is any good

The karma of Forestville losing to bought 36ers, for years Forestville do it and bend the rules.

Didn't DJ go to a wedding overseas but a doctor signed him off as sick so it counted as a game qualifying?

Imagine Andy, losing at his own game lol

I don't see the other coaches dressing the same way as Andy (especially) and Nyberg so yeah the individual needs to be accountable for their own lack of professionalism. But hey Andy won’t be working the sideline again this year so it’s a fantastic thing on 2 fronts
