Shooting percentages of NBL greats

Watching nba draft analysis and pods. They all talk about three and two percentages.

Saying giddey at 37 or 38% from three would make him and great player.

Looking back can someone tell me what gaze, loggins, heal et al put up in the NBL?

I seem to recall patty's percentages weren’t good in the lock out season.

Even throw back to green, McKay and kubank amongst others.

Possibly mick corkeren...

TIA

There's a great place you can look up all of that and more.
They call it: the internet.

You can look it up here by season. Check off all the seasons then sort by 2pt% or 3pt% and focus on the games played (GP) column for the greats as you scroll down.

Another way to marvel at the brilliance of Gaze. He's often known for his long-range shooting, but he actually jacked up a lot of long-range prayers. It was the efficiency of his closer range game at such a volume that was arguably most outstanding. 62% on 2s.

"62% on 2s.“

Yes, all those back door cuts! He just kept moving and creating space for easy shots. Fantastic to watch.

And next time you need a needle, anon, go check a haystack before you ask someone for help finding one.

Percentages in isolation though aren't a full measure of someone's 3 point shooting ability.

Volume matters too but even more than that, the types of shots they take.

So you really need to watch someone to assess how effective a 3 point shooter they were.

Like any United/Tigers fan whose been watching CG43 and Barlow forever, will tell you CG is a better 3 point shooter, even though Barlow consistently has higher %. As one obvious example.

Another good example was the big man battle this past season- Landale vs Mooney. Mooney had the better 3P% but Landale is a better outside shooter.

Damn, you have caught me a bit early on this one.

I have been working backwards for each season, compiling every stat from NBL history. I just finished 1991, so there are not many seasons left. Unfortunately, it does take a while to transfer all of the box scores into my database.

But as mentioned above, Spatial Jam is a pretty great place to have a look.

That puts Gaze in perspective. Not just a long range sniper but a great finisher despite being a guard. 63% on 2s across that volume is phenomenal. So many back door cuts in shuffle 3rds for those points.

'Despite being a guard'

Gaze is 6,7, that’s like saying Magic (6,8) finished well in the paint for a guard lol

Still largely a below the rim player. Not like he was a 7 footer whose only 2 point attempts were dunks.

Shout out to Billy Mac at number 3. A quality player.

I never knew that Kickert was such a sharp shooter! His 3 point percentage is curry like though he did not shoot it like curry, but still impressive for a big man!

Sorry, I don't have the knowledge like the majority of you guys in Hoops AU regarding Australian Basketball. I have only seen Kickert play in FIBA competition.
