Cairns Taipans sign Bul Kuol

Born in Sudan moved to Canberra when he was 9 years old. Currently playing for the Knox Raiders in Melbourne and played college in the US too. 6'8" shooter.

Sounds like a handy pick up.

A lot Sudanese are born on the first of January. I hope he's a good defender as it’s a Cairns weakness. Good luck to him.

Immigrants from a lot of different countries put down 1 January as a default DOB based on them not having their birth records. Many of them don't think their DOB is a big deal, so they just use 1 January.

I look forward to the day that a young African guy can do something good in Australia and not have jokes made about his heritage as a response to his achievement.

As a Canberra person who saw a fair bit of him as a junior, he always seemed like a talented kid in the right age group. His growth and development weren't unusually early, he was actually more of a late bloomer. So in his case specifically, he's likely very close to his listed age. In general, I agree with Curtley that it'd be nice if we could skip the casual racism of assuming that if he's good he must have cheated. Good luck to him in Cairns.

"a young African guy" - he's Australian, according to the NBL article.

"They are F%%King racists" - not clear from your post as to who is having sex with the racists.
