Trev had the chance to move on to Asia a couple years ago but with his Wife's cancer battles and young kids said he wasn't interested in moving on so while possible I would be very surprised if he's moving on. Maybe just announcing the sale of the team if NBL have signed off on it. OR Bryce is a local now........

I've heard from some reliable sources that it will be something like:

Brett Brown - Coach

Russell Westbrook / Norton
Cotton / Import
Next Star / Lebron James
Jesse Wagstaff / Travers
Thon Maker / Majok Majok

or something along those lines

I'm surprised by this the talk had been that he had decided to stay at the Wildcats but I guess an NBA opportunity is too good an offer to turn down.

Maybe he swaps places with Nielsen and becomes coach of the Spurs G-League team? lol

Few things

1. Will they be able to keep Bryce after his contract is up in a couple years or even during the season ow Trev is gone as wasn't he a huge factor in staying?

2.Similar to above will this cause any other major player departures

3.Should cats fans now prepare even more for the possibility of the end of the finals streak?

Toronto, as I said earlier, head assistant coach I was told, just didn't believe it.

Cotton's under contract for another two years. If the supposed clause is true that he can leave his contract if there is a coaching change do you seriously expect him to do so?

No chance Cotton walks out on his deal.

Nah you just walk in off the street and get an NBA Associate Head Coach (the lead assistant coach) job. He may get an assistant coaching job somewhere but not lead assistant.

I'd love to know the actual source of cottons out clause if Trev leaves Anon on hoops seems pretty bad as a rumour/source for it

The clause is for 48 hours, i don't expect him to leave unless he follows Gleeson.

He coached Indys summer league team a few seasons ago and was being hunted. I guess all those times knocking it back just got them to up their offer to where he couldn't say no anymore.

I don't know if theres any head coaching spots open in NBA but maybe an associate head coach position? would he leave for a G League gig?

Sergio Scariolo has left the Raptors so it makes sense Gleeson replaces him as the "international" assistant.

I'm an anon because I have a source, very reliable who’s in the industry, when all the Gleeson to Japan, Asia was going on he told me then Toronto. Gleeson has an American wife ??.

That's a huge loss for Perth and for the league. I loved to hate him, but he was exceptional at his job.

The end of that finals streak with a big freaking asterisk next to it after they finished 7th in a 11 team comp 2 seasons in a row in the mid 2000s.

All the best to Trev. Been an amazing coach and integral to all of the Wildcats recent success.

Losing him is on the same level as losing Cotton. Huge hole to fill.

Trev leaving has nothing to do with the new hierarchy in place. If he got the same offer under the previous ownership he still would have left the Cats. It's a huge gig to be an NBA assistant coach under Nick Nurse

Actually interested to see what calibre coach the Wildcats bring in. I don't see them going for a Bevo type signing, I think they'll aim for an experienced international coach.

Mixed emotions...
Genuinely thankful to, and happy for Trev. Has given us a lot, and genuinely deserves this opportunity.

But at the same time a bit scared as to who we're going to recruit to replace him.

Be interesting to see what level the Assistant role is. Obviously you can't knock back an NBA opportunity, but I also doubt that he's been head-hunted to be the video-coordinator and coffee-gopher.

And where do people get this shit about Cotton?

Cotton stayed in Perth because his spouse and child are from Perth, and because Perth were prepared to pay him decent money. Maybe not quite what he might have gotten elsewhere, but certainly top-dollar for the NBL. I'm sure that deal's still in place. Doesn't necessarily mean he's here forever, but I imagine he'd be reluctant to move his family during Covid, unless it was for significantly more.

Congrats Trev, you annoyed the shit out of some people, you brought the best out of players, and you did it all for championships, 5 in total. Hopefully your NBA career is a long one!
