Wildcats would be worried about us: JJs CEO
From ABC News:
"Perth point guard Mitch Norton was high on the list too. The JackJumpers thought they'd landed their man, before an 11th-hour snatch and grab from the Wildcats saw him stay put in Perth.
Sadly for Tasmania, it had been used as leverage by the 28-year-old defensive specialist.
A first taste of the brutal business of free agency.
"I made him a lot of money, and I'm really excited and really happy for him" said JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth, dryly, earlier this week.
Welcome to the big leagues, Tassie.
Roth, a former Wildcats assistant, has deliberately targeted players from his former club. And why wouldn't he? He'll need known quantities and familiar faces in his first season at the helm.
He's also nicked rated assistant coach Jacob Chance from Perth, and there's likely more Wildcats flavour to come.
Just to rub it in, chief executive Simon Brookhouse couldn't help but fire a shot at the 10-time champs this week too, when asked about the team's first match up.
"I think they'd be more worried than us," he said.
"Scott's got their game plan and we've got a few of their players now and another of their assistant coaches, so we don't shy away from anybody."
