Straight in for Iverson so probably confirms Tai Webster isn't coming back.

New Zealand Breakers - Shamir
T.Webster or import/Mcdowell-White
Randolph(i)/C.Webster/Bach
Abercrombie/Dieng(ns)/Davidson(dp)
Delany/Galloway
Wetzell/Loe/Timmins(dp)

Unless dieng is running point but that's risky. He’s a 3-1-2 apparently.

Very good signing, very bad loss for SEM.

No Tai Webster would be a positive for the Breakers.

Pineau was probably going to come back anyway so not that much of a loss.

Don't get me wrong I'd prefer Wetzel but its not like they are going to an unknown quantity.

Pineau had a very good previous season, he's no where near as long as Wetzell. Can Pineau match that one off season.

He's a better offensive player and that’s where it stops. Pineau is better in every other major facet of the game.

Not taking anything away from Pineau, but Wetzell was also a rookie, is taller, more explosive, and probably 3 years younger.

It's a big signing by the Breakers. He will fit Shamir's pick and roll system nicely so it's not a surprise to see them go after him, but I am surprised they managed to pick him up. Breakers are already looking very, very strong.

Although the Breakers have been publicly talking up signing Tai Webster, I think they'll go for a defensive-minded, pass-first PG. The team already has plenty of scoring options and while Corey Webster knows how to become a distributor when the defence focuses in on him, Tai Webster's decision-making was really poor this past season.

How I see them lining up:

WMW / Import
Randolph / Corey Webster
Abercrombie / Dieng
Delany / Import / Galloway
Wetzell / Loe or Iverson

Why you listing iverson when he signed in Japan.

I wouldn't mind an Import PG and Levi Randolph back.
Loe is rehabbing his knee and may not be fit for the season start so Timmons will most likely get minutes to prove himself early on.
Galloway did well when given opportunities so it will be interesting to see his development

Definitely agree with not have the Webster as the lead PG history has shown us you don't need a import PG to win the championship.

Breakers have a history of selecting import bugs that struggle with foul trouble for much of the season so getting a local that knows how the games are called is absolutely massive for them almost as much as anything else that he may bring to the team.

I was seriously underwhelmed by T. Webster, I think he could be a real stR in the league but he seemed too selfish especially pre injury.

Totally agree Proud.

NZ could even roll out

Import / WMW
T.Webster / C.Webster / R. Bach
L.Randolph / T.Abercrombie / Dieng (NS)
F.Delaney / K.Galloway
Y.Wetzell / R.Loe

I.Davidson (DP) / Sam Timmons (DP)

More likely Tai is replaced with an Import PG and NZ keep the 3rd Import up their sleeve for injury replacement if required.

Reports in NZ speculate that Delany is off to Europe, which may lead the Breakers to get a premier import 4. I still suspect WMW has been promised a starting role, which is likely leading to getting a scoring combo guard if Tai does not re-sign (also expecting him to go to Europe too).

That being said, great that the Breakers have their local signings completed this early in Free Agency.

Big signing for NZ. They've been smashed with injuries the last 2 seasons and covid this season, they'll hopefully get some better luck now.

If Pineau returns to 19/20 level, not a huge loss for SEM, if they can complement him with an import who can score.

Pineau not a low post scorer or much of a scorer at all, but a better defender than Wetzell.
