Serbia
Brazil, Croatia or Germany

All big teams at 4-5 spots
Nigeria, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, similar size at 1-2-3 To us
Serbia bigger at 2-3-4-5

"Dellavedova 1
Mills 2-1
Ingles 3-1-2
Landale 4-5
Baynes 5

Exum 1-2-3
Goulding 2
Thybulle 2-3
Kay 4-5
Reath 5-4

Green 3-2
Cooks 4-3-5"

If we go this team, we have 5 players over 6'10. I don't think we can count out Brock Motum, though, who might be one of our few scoring threats.

We shouldn be "too" small with a line up like this

ME we wouldn't have 5 players over 6’10, cooks is like 6’8 and Kay is like 6’9

Most people agree except for which 2 of Kay, cooks, Motum should go.

We did lose 3 big guys

Simmons 6'10-6’11
Humphries 6’11-7’0
Maker 7’0-7’1

2 outs because 'work on my game’ bs
1 out with ankle injury.

It's hard because Kay, Cooks and Motum bring completely different skill sets and it probably will be the hardest pick.

Motum is a scorer. Kay is a bit of a big-bodied do-it-all with a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Cooks is a lengthy athlete who can defend multiple positions, can score a little.

I'd probably trend towards Cooks and Motum but if you watch the Spain v Australia semi from the Cup, you see Kay just appearing whereever you need a quick cut to the bucket.

Whoever misses out will be doing so by the smallest of margins.

Seen a bit of word on twitter than someone has been omitted from the squad and it's not a great decision. Won't say who, wants BA to announce it. :/

I'll guess, Deladova or Reath, unless injury, Exum, now that would be horrible.

Exum probably, pushed too early perhaps.

I haven't seen a lot of Giddey, but from what I have he's a versatile pass-first PG, with exceptional length, and is not short on confidence. Obviously he has tremendous upside potential.
Sobey is the exact opposite in every respect.
Sure, "playing youth" is not normally the done thing, but if it's a choice between those two I'd rather see Giddey get a crack.

For mine, there are two critical questions:
1) Who does Goorj pick as his Starting SG; and
2) Where does he play Landale?

Obviously we presume Goorj won't repeat Lemanis' mistakes with Mills, and yes I know he could play as a 2, but he's still also our best PG.

With B1 & B2, Lemanis started Jock at the 4. Will Goorj do the same without Bogut? If not, who starts at PF? I assume that only 2 out of Reath,Kay, and Motum will make the final cut, but which 2?

Mills has never been a primary pg at international level.

St marys he was the pg.

Pretty sure it was Goulding told before he left the country

Landale will head over and that will be the 15 that goes to Tokyo

Karl Beston has said he's shocked and disappointed at the roster news:

Wonder what he's referring to?

Goulding, geez. No one else can shoot.

Maybe green or Sobey have been on fire.

Looks almost like a defense only side. I can't see us scoring much.

That link above on Twitter suggests it might be someone young. Giddey? If it's Goulding, I would be shocked too. We are quite weak with shooting at the guard positions, with the exception of Mills and Ingles, the latter having struggled with shooting in more than one major tournament. Defensively we are strong, but we still need to put points on the scoreboard.

If Goulding has been cut it would be because Goorj can see enough scoring on this team. Guys who dont score in the NBA may score in the Olympics as long as they have the skills to do so, and Thybulle and Exum likely do.

Dellavedova-Exum
Mills-Goulding-(Sobey)
Ingles-Thybulle-(Green-Creek)
Landale-(Cooks-Kay-Motum)
Baynes-Reath

Players in brackets appear to be the ones fighting for spots in the final 12

Giddey has been cut reported by several journalists.

The 15 that remain will go on to next stage, Friendly matches.

I like "Sorry's" version too but Sobey before Goulding.

I agree that Goulding, WHEN ON FIRE, might be everyone's choice, but when he's not, I'm waiting for the next game, not this one, for CG to get hot.

Sobey, not as much punch, but will keep fighting until he gets the job done. And will ultimately give you what you'd want from either, every night. I understand that he (Sobey) may not get the minutes to do that but he'll fight all the way.

I also think that Sobey will be just that bit tougher which most, on here, would agree is a feature of the Euoro's game!

Skills wise, a toss-up!

Capt Jack, Like the way you offered your inclusions. Play them as you see fit. We do seem to have players with flexibility. Your 5 bigs will be fairly anchored in the paint with a couple of them hitting 3's now and then. All the others can play 1 to 3 and even a couple of 4 there.

Do we have the shooters we will need? At least, with Simmons out, a valuable shooter's spot would have gone to him.

Sobey didn't get many minutes to prove himself in 2019, but he looked out of his depth when he did. Contrast that with Goulding who came on with an immediate impact and was 2nd on the team for 3PMs. We need a lights out shooter, especially with Broekhoff's absence, and Goulding is that.

Sorry, 3rd on 3PMs. Behind obviously Mills, then daylight then Delly, then Goulding 3rd.
