Stoked to see the Raptors jump into 4th in a really good draft. Great chance to get an elite talent.

Would love to see Giddey go to the Warriors at 14. I think it'd be the best possible environment for him to work in, while also having the chance to play with and behind guys like Steph and Klay.

First #1 pick for Detroit since 1970 and apparently the first time they've ever moved up in the lottery.

Woj:

The plan for presumptive No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham will be to visit only one team prior to the NBA Draft on July 29: The Detroit Pistons.

Cafe Cunningham projected as a franchise level player. Well done Detroit.

Giddey at 14 to GSW would be absolutely perfect.

It will be interesting to see if this draft list opens some opportunities for the Simmons trade as well.

i.e. Would GSW be willing to trade pick 7 and a player (Oubre?) to Philly for Simmons? They could then surround Simmons with high quality shooting.

Could San Antonio trade De Rozan and pick 12 for Simmons and a pick? Spurs have a great record in getting the best out of players.

Could someone explain how the lottery works? Is it literally a lottery and whoever gets drawn first gets #1 pick, drawn second #2 pick etc?

Not familiar with the NBA..

Giddey still remains a high prospect on draft boards.

Yahoo just released their latest mock, and have him at #12 to San Antonio.

"Could someone explain how the lottery works?"

the 14 teams who didnt make the playoffs go into a lottery and they pick out 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th picks with each teams number of lottery balls dependent on where they finished. IE the team with the worst record has more lottery balls than the team with the 14th worst record. After the top 4 picks it reverts back to non lottery, that is just the team with the next worst record picks 5th, then the next team 6th etc.

San Antonio have a great system, but they already have a lot of young high end guards so might be a weird fit. Or it could be perfect. If Patty stays it would also be amazing for Son of Wazza to learn from him.

As a Pistons fan, this is the first things we have had to cheer about for a long time.

Can't see warriors taking Giddey. He's more of a project and they want to win now. Can see them trying to combine picks and move up, maybe to Houston who may want multiple picks, and or move picks and players for Simmons.

@Cram

Agree not a good fit in SA with all the other young guards they already have on hand.

At this early stage I think most mocks are still ranking based purely on talent and we'll see a shift to a more considered 'needs basis' as we head towards the draft itself and intel starts dripping down to reporters.

Unless there is a major surprise, Cunningham should go to Detroit and his flexibility is one of his strengths. At the trade deadline there were numerous teams after Grant, who is a comparable player to Cunningham. I wonder if Detroit might see what they can get for Grant.
As for surprise, they took Hayes last year, but could they be tempted to trade down a spot or 2 to get Suggs. Cleveland could throw in the kitchen sink to get Cunningham.

I think Garuba is being underrated, his offensive game will develop.
Imo should be top 5.

Agreed, DR's Hair, that's a great result for Detroit!

What does it mean for Killian Hayes do you think?

Imo Hayes was overrated and was a swing and miss for hopeless Detroit front office. Not saying Cunningham is 100% guaranteed to be superstar, but is consensus number 1 pick. Rest could really go in any order, no favourites for 2nd pick. Unless Houston do a buyout with Wall and think Suggs is their Pg of the future, Mobley as a big looks pretty steady.
