Breakers v Taipans Apr 23

The Breakers are on a roll after double dacking Perth last round on their home court. The Snakes are a bit like the Australian army on deployment with the US Army - just making up the numbers.

The Breakers lead the series 2-1, but down a wee bit on the split.

The Silverdome won't see a blood bath tonight, but Cairns will need to keep the effort going for four quarters if they want the bragging rights for the series.

Breakers looking pretty good last couple of games with WMW steering the ship and Rob Loe backing up Colton Iverson.

With SpaceCam out for Cairns I expect NZ to grab this one.

NZ by 9.

NZ by 10+

I'm interested to see if NZ go big at times with Loe at the 4.

How far away is Tai Webster?

Breakers should have this, but always need to be wary of a team that the odds are against like Taipans.

With regards to Tai websters return I have no idea. But it does raise a question I have, are Breakers allowed to cut a local to make room for Will McDowell White?

NZ don't need to cut anyone for WMW.

T. Webster / Weeks
C.Webster / WMW
Abercrombie / Randolph
Delaney / Trist
Iverson / Loe

I'm pretty sure they do, you can only have 10 players this season right?

You left R.Bach off the list.

You're right sorry. I guess either Weeks or Trist is out of the playing roster.

Its all good! Hmm yeah, I think with the lack of ball handlers unfortunately Trist will be gone, which is actually a shame as he has been improving.

The way Heal has been talking up Weeks, I'd Weeks has been told.

I can see this getting ugly if nz put their foot down and play team, not a lot left in cairns, nearly nbl1 side bar a few. Nz by 20.

WMW / T. Webster
C.Webster / Bach
Abercrombie / Randolph
Delaney / Trist
Iverson / Loe

Weeks will be deactivated when Tai Webster returns. He has regressed a lot this season, which has been sad to see. Trist, on the other hand, has improved as the season has gone on and provides some needed cover in case of injury or COVID restrictions. I imagine Trist will be gone at the end of the year and Galloway will replace him in the 10.

I actually see Tai coming off the bench when he returns. Tai, Bach, Randolph and Loe is some serious offensive firepower off the bench with 2 solid creators and 2 good shooters.

As much as writing teams off in this league is a bad idea, unless Cairns shoots the shit out of it this is going to be ugly. The Breakers have had 2 out of their last 3 against Perth and should be tuned into playing at a very high level.

They should win this game .

USF certainly on Djeric, it was horrible.
Duffellmeir doing very nicely
WMW doing very ordinary, one game wonder.
Jois not much at defensive end
NZ can't hit side of barn from 3.

In one of the more extreme drifts I've seen in an NBL head-to-head market the pre-game odds for CNS drifted from $3 out to $7+ during the week (inverse being NZB $1.50 into $1.14). Now they look like certain winners. Crazy, modellers better start accounting for those nasty rims.

WMW oh my, he has to do more than just dribble over half way, his defence has been non existent as well. I'm not certain what the g league actually does to make you a better player. Imports and Australian out g league are not much good.

Great block by Jois. But what a terrible call. Wasn't even close to a goal tend and I think that cost the Breakers the game. Having said that, Breakers took too long to get going and had too large a deficit and Jawai and Dufelmeir played great.

Duffelmeir has been good, probably play for Tasmania next season, pity Kelly has developed him. Jois is still nbl1 quality. Both coaches didn't act quickly enough, WMW should have been benched at 1/2 time not 3/4 time, nz got back into it when Webster went to point. Kelly didn’t call a time out till the 4 minute mark in the last when nz were applying all pressure and scoring at will. Both sides need a lot changes to be successful next season. Djeric and Kenny out for a start.
Great win Cairns, well deserved.
Great two people in commentary.

Every now and then I go and have a quiet look at Brisbane threads and then thank the almighty that Lemanis no longer coaches the Breakers. Those poor good folk in Brisbane.
