The other week one of rockets lower team had a bye scheduled on the Saturday which was last game for the pool before regarding. As they missed a game the week before makeup games were scheduled on the Sunday which was first game of the new pool. The Rockets team "won" the bye and had another game off. 2 byes in 2 games. And I say "won" as that is how bsa referenced it in their messages to teams who got the bye when new draw came out.
I hadn't put much though into lost revenue from having byes, but that is thousands of dollars every week in game and spectator fees bsa has given away in lost revenue, the stadiums are already in use and booked. They would get approx an extra $20000 (probably more) revenue over the 10 weeks with no byes. A good way to try and get more money to the refs. Plus with less foot traffic their is less money going into the canteens, etc. And no finals in DL div means another lot of money from spectators lost along with the added promotion from the kids competing. The goal of bsa should be to try and put as many games on the court as they can every week.
The totals were based on 8 players a team in game fees plus 1x parent paying spectator with over 20 odd teams having a bye every week.
