More players would leave Boomers, if there were more teams with the same amount of money to spend on players . Crazy that the league is still allowing a few clubs to spend as much as they like.

Reply #847221 | Report this post

Luuuc

It has always been a precarious position in the WNBL with salaries.
It's an unfair competition with a large chasm between the haves and the have-nots, but on the other hand if the league tried to put a meaningful lid on salaries to keep the have-nots competitive, the main effect it would have is to send more Opals squad-calibre players away to Europe.
Either way hurts the league.

to go to the states for aussies it is a lot easier to be a 2-3-4 than a 1 or a 5 (Cambage is the exception). The girls in college and therefore WNBA who run the 1 are insanely quick both athletically and handles, the 5s are just too big or athletic and long. If you have a look over time the ones that sustain there are usually 2-3-4, Timms, Jackson and Cambage are just freaks of nature.
If sophie cunningham can survive as a 3 it should give the aussies hope she is more our standard of genetic predisposition

Lucas coaches for free, so I wouldn't expect him to be moved on anytime soon. Chambers just won her 2nd championship, so not sure why she’d be being moved on? York has a good roster this year, so let’s wait and see on her, I mean everyone is a better coach with better players right? Which brings us to Malloy (bad coach no matter the roster) seems to have a lifetime’s worth of 'get out of jail free cards’, so unfortunately I think we’re stuck with him.

York has a has been roster, only Maley n mckay are good young pickups.
Mitchell, garrick both came off worst season and were let go by previous clubs. Mclean, Skinner have done little. Dunlop is far too young and inexperienced for wnbl level. Ernst is pregnant, froling shockingly poor first season that no one expected.

Atm, Something like...

Lavey/Mitchell/Mclean
Garrick/Goulding
Maley/Skinner
Import/Froling?/Dunlop

Just facts not personal, the year before our girls (qld sth) did the same thing to her in the semi and she played exactly the same way. Stuff the right hand side and she drives wide left and chucks when she gets contact expecting foul calls. Shyla called her out last year when they said have you got something to say to her and she said "Tell jade to stop flopping"
In that Semi final which Country were favourites in I think she didn't score, there is a trend there, give her a couple of years is all I am saying stop with they hype now.
