SEM v MEL Mar 10

A Victorian double header. Just like a double shot of latte from Centre Place, the Vics will tell you it'll be good. Even Chairman Dan was rushing to get to this game, but sadly he slipped on the bathroom tiles and lucky there were no adult toys on the floor (ask any doctor who has worked A&E...) We wish him a speedy recovery.

Not a good round 8 for the Phoenix dropping both games to the Cats and Kings, now they play the King Cats, the Top Cats of the Ladder. The Top Cats crashed against the mighty Bullets despite CG43 top scoring. JC5 showing us all he’s not just a top fashion designer. If you’re a Feenix Fan, expect to get free for free, as they get a third straight loss

With so much at stake with the NBL Cup, if Melbourne get 7 points from this game, and at least 5 from the game against the Hawks, they will end up with 37 points. They need to make up 4.5 points on Perth who play NZ and then the Sixers. They need Perth to drop a game to snatch top spot.

Putting all other NBL teams on notice. Look out for Phoenix when they get back Sykes, Pineau, Gibson and add Broekhoff. Some serious depth will be at Mitchell's disposal. Definite Championship contenders.

Perth were always going to make play offs, I said and got bagged, history tells us that, Gleeson, Cotton and now Mooney get it done.

If the money is shared amongst the players it's on top of there wages and will be part of the salary cap. Clubs won’t want to do it and pay the tax you going over their threshold. It sucks for players but bosses will be happy, at least the winners.

You have so little confidence in beating Perth that you would sacrifice Utd's own wins?

Do you actually read people's posts or just run your opinion?

Look at who Perth has beaten and the players their opponents were missing

Given Perth's mostly been running a full strength team or close to, I should hope they'd be right up there

Are they?

If you told me 6 weeks ago:

- United, SEM, and Sydney will be decimated by injuries

- Perth will have a good run with injuries

- Most of Perth's early games are against SEM, United and Sydney

I probably would've predicted Perth would be top 2

Reply #836428 | Report this post

LV

To put this another way, "expectations" are subject to many factors

If United, SEM and Sydney were similarly healthy as Perth, then Perth would probably be 4-7 and 8th on the ladder instead of 7-4 and 2nd. Perth have won several close games when their opponent was seriously undermanned.

GTFO of here

That's the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long time.

If people saw Perth going 7th - 9th they’d have to be a special kind of stupid.

I wouldn’t be criticising United though, having injuries can cause problems and equally sometimes team stuff it against other injury ravaged teams, see Adelaide. I think Utd will be comfortably top 2

United is 10-3 despite missing 2 players in most of their games, and missing 3 players in a couple.

Perth is 7-4 after mostly being full strength, and have mostly played opponents with injuries, sometimes multiple injuries.

What is up with Melb United rotations???

With all due respect, Sam Short playing minutes in first qtr? and Mcdaniel starting. Both were made to look very ordinary by Adnam

Dillon Stith sitting on bench for the entire game? Unless he is injured what is the reason for that.

He isn't at the level of most imports in the league, but he is definitely a better option than Short, Mcdaniel, and at this stage of his career, Barlow.

I really think Vickerman is a very average coach with the rosters he has had over the years
