ILL v ADL Mar 4

Adelaide just ran out of steam last game and did the honourable thing by letting the Breakers play themselves back into form. Both teams go into Thunderdome with two straight losses, so it will be a hat-trick of losses for one team after tonight. Can Adelaide purchase a win?
Ah... a loss for the Hawks could see them tumble out of the top 4 with a Kings win, and that means a dark Tomorrow-morrow for the Sixers, who certainly won't be inviting any debaters back to their room to iron a shirt.
"Two teams enter, one team leaves." Hawks to pile on the woes for the Sixers.

Love it when we lose and some turn on DJ. If you understand the game Adel and Harvey outside shooting cost the game and DJ was not the one on the perimeter defending these players. Noted we got killed on the glass but we were very undersized tonight.

If we had Isaac and Paul we win the game. As simple as that.

Yep the club gets scared he will leave gives him a 3 year deal final year player option, starts playing defence eight toward the end of the second year then opts out becomes a FA and gets another 3 year deal from us. Same cycle over and over again.

DJ started playing defence right at the end of last season even though our season was already over at that point, opts out and then with Joey's departure we had the opportunity to start fresh especially with Humphries coming in but we turn around and give DJ yet another 3 year deal.

He'll start playing defence towards the end of next season then opt out...

DJ's defence is not costing as games.

Take the Hawks best import out in Harvey and best Aussie out in Adel an we win.

With Humphris out and Paul in quarantine the Jawks had to win.

Any team in the NBL would take a first team NBL PF that can stretch the floor.

If we let DJ go what Aussie talent is going to replace him?

Put aside Harvey as he puts up numbers against every team and who were the guys that stepped us and really hurts us tonight Bairstow & Adel (PF & C, hello DJ!) both coincidentally having their best games of the season.

Any team in the NBL would take a first team NBL PF that can stretch the floor.

No, most teams wouldn't take DJ which is why they never sign him even though he's on the market every second year. How come his home team the Wildcats have never signed him? Because their culture wouldn't put up with his crap they expect their bigs to play some semblance of defence.

If we let DJ go what Aussie talent is going to replace him?

This is something so many Sixers fans say year after year he's got the club and fans by the short and curlies. He pads his stats on crap teams whilst refusing to play defence. I know why don't we sign Humphries to replace him? Oh wait.

Taking out the one season he left to go and play in Poland (only lasted half a season there rejoined the Sixers late that season) DJ has played 9 full seasons with the Sixers how many times have we made the playoffs in those nine years? Three times. And we're looking a good thing to miss the playoffs again this year, for the third straight year. But DJ's putting up numbers again so it's all good.

Seriously, some of the comments here especially those targeting mudronja WTF???? This kid can play. He has been given very little opportunity and when given time such as a few weeks back he knocked down double digit points. Look at his shooting percentage against the rest. Get to a training session perhaps and check this kid out. Perhaps start commenting on the performance of players that are actually getting on the court. One person here continues to smash him and it sounds like other personal motives in his comments. You my friend are a clown.
And how Pindar is getting so much court time? Starting over McVeigh??
McVeigh is also getting starved of opportunities, and we have another big local body not getting opportunities.
The coach complains about the group being tired but keeps playing 7 guys. Rotate the entire bench with some court time. Coach crumbles under pressure, he has had enough time..... get another coach. I like giddy, but 37 minutes on court for the little points is not good enough. Our bench would hit that many points if on the court for that amount of time. Coaching needs to work on his shooting, his percentage is too low. ....

Henry obviously sees some major flaws in Mudronjas game otherwise he would play him?
Yes he would dominate at training, he isn't using much energy on match day.
Of course scrutiny will come when you play professionally and people are going to ask questions, he went to the COE played for Australia, went to college, Jantke pumped him up, got him a pro deal at the Sixers and he’s not getting on the court. He was seen as the next big thing, or maybe he was a big dominant junior and everyone else caught up?
Can’t blame him, he is doing his best, but it all might come back to the BSA HP flawed talent ID/ development and obsession with the Sturt/ private school system. A system that has a reputation of promoting entitled players, not the necessarily the best ones.

For those criticising Mudronja for not subbing himself on - how many minutes did Sobey play his first two seasons (1st as a DP with Cairns and second season as a rostered player with Adelaide)?

Way too early to guess how Mudronja's NBL career is going to go but blaming Sturt or the private school for overhyping him is an interesting take.

His lack of productivity is based solely on a lack of playing time which has resulted from Giddey getting 30 minutes a game. Even Sloan didn’t get significant playing time let alone Mudronja.

786 you clearly do not know much about much. Stop making a fool of yourself. Your philosophical thoughts have an elememt of truth but your information is far from reality you are just embarassing yourself. It is obviously anonymous so it is easy to post stupid crap but your deep consciousness must be impacted by your stupidity. Plenty of young kids in the league do not play in their first year. Jantke helps kids get exposure to college coaches and has had immense success in helping kids and changing lives. That is where it begins and ends. You can make more out of this thant there is but that is for fools to follow.

791 thanks for your enlightening feedback, you are quite the online savant so it seems
Your response is also boring and predictable and you come across as pompous and entitled...so one would assume you are a part of the BSA HP system?
If you are denying that talent ID and selection aren't private school and club based in Adelaide, then you are a liar.
Too many players are selected because they are "good for business".
I’m not saying Mudronja fits this category and he can obviously play the game, but the question remains, why can’t he get on the court?
If it’s not talent, is it attitude/behaviour/energy? Wether it’s the coach, upper management, or both, someone somewhere doesn’t rate him.
Best thing he could do is sit down and watch some tapes of Baba and Issac White.
White is a role impact player, high output/effort, plenty of bench energy, first player getting around Guys when they are subbed off, boxes out rebounds scores, just throws himself into it, Baba is exactly the same.
Mudronja seems to be moping around towel around his shoulders feeling sorry for himself.
As time goes on, maybe his behaviour when Joey Wright was sacked has cost him, not his playing ability?
I hope it works out for him, there is a highly talented group of players coming through in SA and Mudronja and Issac White are seen as the leaders of the generation.

799 I agree that you will be hard pressed to find many in love with BSAHP but what does this have to do with Mudronja.

Mudronja is far removed from his days in BSAHP. Went to COE, St Mary's and now a NBL roster player (first season as a roster player).

If you don’t think he will become a solid NBL player that is fine. You may well be right but he’s still very young.

I would suggest the reason he can’t get on the court is none of what you suggested but rather the fact he’s a rookie and they have decided to throw the keys to the car to Giddey. It’s also understandable that when Henry subs off an 18 year old that he looks to Dillon, Kendle or Teys over Mudronja for experience.

Giddey is a star of the future but most don’t expect him to be part of next year’s 36ers team.

A more interesting question than why Mudronja isn’t getting on the court is whether the 36ers would be in a stronger position both this season and in the future if they had not signed Giddey but rather given an import point guard such as Sloan 30 minutes a game and used Mudronja as a solid 10 minute per game back up point guard.

799 i think you are right re. Talent. The mayen kid is showing a trajectory right now that could project him onto draft boards come 2023. You got rigoni who has just smashed all time 3 pt shooting records at 6foot6 at his d1 school. You have got Hulland who has shown signs. Garang learning his trade under the top coaches in the world. Then in the last 18 mths a record number of kids out of SA in canberra. There were some bleak decades theee forsure. Will take a few yrs to see how these kids go but kids out of SA are getting to higher levels at an unprecdedented rate.
