Apparently he thinks rules don't apply to him.

Boguts IQ in anything else: below average at best

It goes without saying there should be social media rules in place for NBL team owners. This is typical from Bogut. Him signing with the Kings was a dummy spit in the first place due to him falling out with United's CEO during negotiations.

Bogut's always been an idiot he used to promote that crazy 'pizzagate' conspiracy theory back in the day.

Bogut trying to pull a Tomic

The league doesn't need Bogut as an owner, needs to stop acting like that’s the case. He should work on his business professionalism, approach his nuances more like Loeliger.

Bitching on social media isn’t going to achieve things, if anything it’s a barrier and promotes the bush league term which goes against what the NBL is trying to do. NBL needs to sell that it’s not embarrassing to like the NBL and want to chat about it - just because it isn’t NBA doesn’t make it embarrassing. People like Bogut peddling the way he does, hurts the NBLs effort in overcoming that

So the decals are not an issue?
The professionalism of the NBL is perfect?
A league owner who owns a % of MULTIPLE teams is all fine?
I think thats calling it as it is.

Yes, because those three issues are the only things Bogut has ever tweeted about.

Bogut could maybe pay the league all the money they get from the advertising revenue from the decals. Great player, not certain a lot sense comes out his Twitter.

Why would he spend his money to buying into a business and then be told what he can/can't say by the league who by the way don't own his company/club?

League owns the license, duh. No point owning a team if there is no license, as without the license the team is not even part of the league. License has requirements.

Because all league owners have to abide by a set of rules and code of conduct. This is nothing unique to the NBL.

All Bogut does is complain about everything. Sure don't take up your 10% ownership option, so you can continue to shit post on Twitter, and LK, Paul Smith et al get to dodge a massive bullet. We're all better off without this whiner's involvement.

Isn't it right that the league holds owners to a standard of conduct?

In the NBA Mark Cuban cannot say whatever he wants.

If Bogut wants to make constructive comments, he has a channel to league bosses.

He can say the standard of refereeing is less than ideal and suggest additional training, he cannot however publicly post his finger rubbing sign from the Olympics.

Sounds like someone is trying to add some leverage to a deal. Reckon he is trying to get a bigger slice of the Kings whilst paying the lowest possible price. Fairly standard business practice.

He is actually only interested in helping our Paul Smith the current owner.

If you did a straw poll of the owners the league office would get a no confidence vote!

It might actually help the NBL to have Bogut out there talking up/down the league and creating some interest as the most high profile former basketballer this version of the NBL has had.

At the moment no one is watching the NBL so surely Bogut creating waves would be a good thing

The whole world was talking about the NBL last year. The difference? No Bogut, no Ball, no Tate, and no Weaver. Also no Longley. 4 out of 5 on the Kings. NBL needs guys like that and needs the Kings to be good.

um the whole world wasnt talking about the NBL.

The NBL games on TV don't even have enough viewers to get a viewership number so the league needs massive help!

Its a laugh that people think not having Bogut involved is a good thing as he brings branding and personality even if only to give the odd comment re games.

The leagues current media performers either have no talent or are so fake (homicide) that its ridiculous which has people not tuning in so the number don't lie!

This is the entire point. He hasn't been white-anted at all. He is playing the victim for reasons only known to him but if he chooses not to agree to the terms and conditions of being a league owner then thats his problem.

I side with Larry,

Larry has contributed wayyyy more to the NBL especially financially in keeping it alive than Bogut ever will.

Bogut was very very well paid to play his part in the NBL and if he doesnt want to accept the terms of ownership, then dont, move on do your podcast, no need to drag the NBL through the mud yet again and the whine when Larry isnt desperate to have him as an owner

Bogut is somewhat correct. It is very much Larry's way or the highway, but the point is that LK has put his own money into the league.
I don't agree with the necessity of a lot of what he's done, but let's face it, without LK:
No MU, and potentially no Melbourne team.
Brisbane probably doesn't get back up.
No Tasmanian team
Hawks would probably have folded and stayed that way.
Doubtful new owner comes in to start SEM
Cairns on the bones of their arse.
Probably no new ownership for Kings
A bankrupt league which probably goes into hiatus and stays there.

I do dislike the way LK and JL treat the NBL as their personal toy, but what was the alternative?

If the NBL had somehow survived, Covid would have killed it.

Bogut needs to suck it up. For better or worse this is LK's league, and he has to respect that.

Not the biggest lk fan myself but he's building this league and doesn't need a voice like bogut being an idiot and creating a divide that could be damaging. All about brand protection and given boguts history it is the smart business move. One less loose cannon variable to consider.

With no LK, there would've been no TV deal in 2016 and the league would be basically what NBL1 is now, except with less money.

I honestly don't understand the issues people have with LK. He runs it like a business and has lifted the entire league.

Making agile decisions might not make him friends with people who think things should be slow concrete and clear, but that’s a good way to be overly rigid and get killed in the market.

The actual governance of the league and teams from a directors perspective is stronger than ever - before LK administration, good business owners were losing the plot and not delivering good business governanxe

I don't agree with everything that LK or the league does either, but it's in a good space and it doesn't need Bogut unhelpfully chiming in to criticise the boss just because it helps his brand. Unfortunately Bogut thinks he is smart but he continues to make a dick of himself when he "tells it like it is."

As much as I at times think LK and his team get it wrong sometimes, overall he's been sensational. It’s his money so it’s his choice how to get it done.
