Phoenix v Wildcats

Phoenix have been running WLWLW, which would mean a loss this game if you followed the maths, but they seem destined to get two wins in a row. The Homeland was a killing field for Hawks last game and they were no chance against the boys in Green. SEM lost the first game in Perth, then came back strongly in game 2 to pip those Cats on their turf. Since then, they haven't score less than 90 points in a game. With a parochial crowd behind them, the Creeksters look set to consolidate their Top 4 spot.

The Wildcats are living out of a suitcase. Locked out of WA for 8 weeks, it's the longest they have been away since Rolf Harris left WA, and I can't see him coming back soon. They have brought their own kitty litter tray and scratching poles, but it must be hard for them not getting a home cooked meal. With Phoenix on the Rise, finding a win tonight might be a tough gig, and the Phoenix are no ball of string to be played with.

Phoenix by about 8.

Perth will clobber the Phoenix. Had they not choked away the game away the game against the United away they would be in a good position. They were the better team for majority of the night

They choked it away because only have one star, Cotton, no White ( well you have a White but the wrong one) no Kay, unless Cotton gets help you can see the cats going down. As jack says, no home cooking ain't going down well either.

Phoenix by 6.

I think Norton is pretty consistently ... Nortony. So IMO our fortunes will mostly be decided by the dynamic duo of inconsistency - Blanchfield & Steindl. Roll the dice to see if they're going to be a plus or a minus on any given night. I sure can't pick it.

To be fair to Perth, they hadn't trained in almost a week up until a couple of days out from the game. Some players had some rust.

Hopefully a week of practice under their belt will see better outputs.

I get the feeling that Perth will come out and crush the Phoenix after what happened last game. Cotton to have a huge night and Mooney should be able to do what he pleases, Moore maybe an x-factor there but I still don't see the Wildcats dropping this one.

That's the problem with Perth, Cotton will get his 30 or close enough and Mooney is a good bet for a double double but they don't have much support.

Their bench is WORST in the league.

Remember when Wildcats were near 7 + 6 (or 7) to start the season? Think that was when Cotton turned up.

Is the stage set for Cotton-the-2nd to join them just in time to win another title?

Lol, every team buys imports, dumb comment, it's literally the only way a team can have a chance.

We did pay a local in Kay, but he left for Euro opportunity, not many other options when Sydney and Melbourne are the more desired locations.

cats probably have weakest bench and starting five would also not be in top 4 for talent. One DP on the starting 5 and I am not sure Norton or Blanchfield would start on many other teams.

Norton and Blanch are both starting quality aussies. Remember teams tend to fill imports around whatever aussie talent they can acquire, generally. Starting quality aussies are usually not import quality for the same position though. Guys like Landale, Kay etc are the exception.

"Norton and Blanch are both starting quality aussies"

This ^

When you look at the players available in the pure PG and SF category, local talent is already thin and Norton and Blanchfield are certainly not at the bottom of the lists. The issue is their consistency.

Pure PG (no including combo guards like Sobey & McCarron) - Norton, T.Webster, Cadee, White, Giddey, Adnam, Bruce, Kenny, Naar, Ili, Weeks

SF - Blanchfield, Creek, Abercrombie, Newley, Noi, Moller, McVeigh, Steindl

Moore looks lost or has no confidence wtahtsoever.

He was given the ball with some forward momentum and could have easily taken his defender but he ended up stopping and passing it out forcing a least shot clock second heave.

I am not sure there are many superstars that are happy to simply not get there's when it works to the teams advantage. SEM dared every other perth player to beat them, and they got so confident Kev white was shooting step back triples!!! Crazy

Cotton had Blanchfield stand up with him, Mooney is exactly the 5 that Gleeson needs. The rest of Perth chip in and do what they have to.

Mitchell has coached well, if his players play defensively like an under 12 side, not much he can do.Today defensively they were crap. Adnam can score points, his D leaves a lot to be desired, te Rangi not certain what went down today and Wetzell struggle tonight against Mooney. They were all crap.

"The Wildcats played 13 guys I thought the limit was 12?"

Yeah, it's weird. I thought the rule was 1 DP on the road, 2 at home. We played 3.
I can only speculate that with rosters reduced teams were allowed to play an extra DP,
and that with the crazy fixturing, the distinction between home and away has been removed.
