R1: Bullets v Hawks Jan 16

Hodgson, Froling, Drmic, Sobey, Cadee. Sounds like it could have been the starting line up for the Sixers, but this is Brisbun 2021. Just like Canadians get confused for Americans, this Bris-bane team could get confused for a Sixers team by anyone who has been living in a cave during the Covid lockdown, eh. So grab some poutine and lets get out onto the ice.

Original gansters since 1979, the Hawks have new ownership and a whole new attitude this season. Definitely one of the teams with the lowest games played, these Steeltown ironmen have a combined total of 420 NBL games between them. Adelaide Lite has over double that at 843 games. Being one of the less experienced teams in the league could be a good thing for the Hawks as the scouting report might be incomplete, and I'm sure Mrs Foling won’t give out any backyard secrets on "Prince" Harry, or “Slamin’” Sam.

Brisbun have a good core group who have been together for a few seasons and sometimes giving a bloke a towel flick in the showers is the banter a team needs to build up teamwork. You would think Lemanis would have a bit of pressure on him to deliver this season and I think the Brisbun fans calls for poutine and Puppers Premium Lager might ring true tonight.

Bullets by 10, eh but

So players on the bench need to wear masks yet crowd behind them don't? What?

Goorjian back in the NBL - about time!

Deng Adel 4 turnovers not even half way through second. Law looking very good for Brisbane. Bairstow got lot work to do or maybe past it.

^^ Agree. Bairstow looks done.
No drive in his legs at all

Deng Adel fairly unimpressive so far. Guess he's coming back from an injury though. He’s listed at 6-7". Looks bigger

I don't mind the look of the Hawks imports, starting to think I may have underestimated the Hawks a bit.

Still not sure what Adel brings to the table. Athletic, but not super quick, doesn't seem to be a shooter or to really stand out in any one way at this point.

Naar and Simon been fantastic for hawks, Adel is reputation only been horrible, Bairstow can't defend a bar stool. Harry F looking a lot better, Law was great but Simon got hold of him. Drimic playing for Drimic. Cadee hot and cold, overall Brisbane looking ordinary at this stage.

Adel like Humphries, long way to the season end to prove themselves but all I've ever seen is how good nba players they are. Let’s see it.

Harvey is a hell of an offensive player, but will be interesting to watch him D up on the better import PGs in the league

Re: Jessup those big performances have shone a big spotlight on him. Brisbane have done a good job on him so far defensively.

He just thought Nathan Sobey was Tyrell Harrison. Harrison wasn't even on the court at the time.

Harrison is the last person Brisbane would have on the floor in that situation

Wiggness playing better than Sobey or Cadee. Same, same for Brisbane. Froling and law good for Brisbane. Naar, Froling and Simon great for hawks, georg can bloody coach, welcome back. Bairstow actually improved late but doesn't look fit.

Would've been to see how good he would’ve gone with last season roster? Great coach as we speak about Gleeson, when you have talent it makes it easier.

Still wonder how Gg get’s 6 coty awards and Gleeson only 1?

I'm feeling a lot better about the Wildcats chances...

Harvey is an offensive weapon, but needs to learn to play D, if he's going to thrive in this league, and under Goorj I would think.

Hard to believe Bairstow played NBA.

The fact that bairstow played was impressive. Horrendous touch in the first half but hit some big shots in the fourth and his rebounding was strong. Give him a few weeks and he'll be making pork chops out of everyone. Again.

I wouldn't read too much into adel and bairstow in terms of how they played since both are coming off of injury, but to one of the anon’s points previously, what would be the average height of nbl players as adel is only 6’7 and and Simon is 6’5 but both looked massive out there for a couple of wings

I still like Naar's game. Don't like his shooting style but, at least in this game, it worked. Hope that bit can continue. Still not the most athletic PG but solid with the ball and good vision.

Naar very high iq player, Georgian is a great coach for him, he use him to his strengths, his D already looks a lot better under Georgian.

Naar shot 40% from 3 in his last year of college despite the ugly and slow shot.

He is definitely serviceable in that role.
