Wouldnt mind seeing Thon at the Raptors. We need some better options in the middle

The Nets roster now only has 13 players and after trading Jarrett Allen has very little size.
I wouldn't be surprised if Thon gets picked up by them to add some rim protection and rebounding.

I see some still think thon Maker can play, it's all media hype, he’s shown so little except for the odd three. How many sides has he had a go at now, even at 7 ft you still need some talent.

Maker is done with the NBA I think.
With no g league currently we have T Maker, Matur Maker, Bolden, Broekhoff and McDowell White all not playing.
Also Makur Maker and Exum out injured.

Thon is off to Perth. Will be official once he completes his journey and 14 days of hotel quarantine.

So is there no G-League this season?

If so, surely some of these guys will head home, if not to Europe

If Thon returns to Perth, does he go back to his actual age he went by when he was last living there?

G League is planning a truncated bubble season. Same venue as where the NBA was *I think*.

And yeah I reckon Thon is done with the NBA. Thon to Tasmania perhaps ;)

Can we sign him as a NS? Since he's only 18?

Why would Tasmania want a bust, hopefully Tasmania management has more sense than most the punters on here. Being extra tall is fine but you have to be able to walk and chew gum. ::)))

You'd think drafting blokes based on mix tapes in non-college, non professional leagues is now a thing of the past.

Most likely those guys will jump to GLeague or Thon will go Brooklyn

G league is doing a bubble so could see some guys again, simply pathetic for all the hate twats on here give the guy, he's done more than any of us, and basically everyone in the nbl. Let’s not act like bench nba players would be very good over here, just look what creek did

There is a difference between getting into the NBA as a 19-year old based on potential (7-footer with physical tools and can shoot a bit, so could become great and was worth a punt for teams) vs getting in later in life without obvious upside for teams.
Maker had more potential to become a good NBA player. That doesn't mean he would be better than Creek (or even anywhere near as good) as a NBL player.

Thon Maker was never and will never be a legit NBA player...great work by is "Guardian" to get him to the league on the back of hype and potential but lets be honest he would be an average NBL player if he returned at best!

Thon like Bolden and the other "Makers" are in and around the league on physical potential only and get found out within a year or two at which point teams move on to the next physical potential guy.

These guys are blessed to have the tools and should cash in while they can as average European leagues or being an average NBL players isn't exactly gonna make them a fortune or set them up for life!

Bucks thought they were drafting a 19 year old kid with Kevin durrant type potential. What they really got was a 23 year old man who was dominating against high school kids. Surely fraud as I'm pretty sure heaps of ex school mates said he had graduated high school like 4 years before being drafted

Yep, the proof is in the Aranmore Catholic College yearbooks but strangely for some pointing it out means we're haters.

Doesn't matter the age anons, both these two have been training and getting games against the best in the world, and considering creek was a 6th man in the g league just shows how hard it is to get there and perform. They got there, so we’ll done to them, and they may haven’t perform as hoped, but the same can said for literally just about nearly every other aussie who went to the nba. So let’s not act like if they came over here they wouldn’t be very good players in this league. Just because they weren’t in your precious nbl, doesn’t mean you turn your back on them and act like they’re garbage, when in reality both men have been involved with our boomers program over a bunch of mediocre Aussie’s here

Thon will forever have my respect for stepping up and going kung fu Thon on the Phillipines when they jumped the boomers

If Thon played in the NBL he'd do alright. At the end of the day, he’s 7ft, athletic and can shoot the ball. But he wouldn’t dominate like Anstey did.

Difference between creek and thon is that makervwas a lottery pick with a guaranteed 3 year contract. If he was 23 he is suddenly a 2nd round pick and possibly out of league already

You are perhaps correct yinka, however the fact he's been there for this long is a decent sign that he’s a good player, however there have been plenty of good players who haven’t done well in the nba, some of them have been aussies, not trying say he’d dominate the nbl but he’d certainly be a good player

Reply #827891 | Report this post

It only makes it worse for Maker that he was once a lottery pick.
Now he is a free agent
