Super athlete but the kid has mental imbalances.
All i can see is he was suspended for code of conduct, that could mean a number of things. And to say he has mental imbalances is pretty harsh, 1 in 5 have mental health issues, give the kid a break.
But seems to be exciting prospect, 44 inch vertical and some poster dunks. If his suspension was due to some immaturity, hopefully some of Melbourne's veterans can steer him right. Good pickup IMO.
This next 'star' thing is getting to be a joke!
Star means any America kid amd if he can jump high that’s a bonus
The guy couldn't go back to Washington, he did something bad, even worse than last years Washington player who was suspended.
He's honestly not that bad a player, but a bit of a stretch for NS. I think the NBL would have seen his relations to JAYZ and thought $$$$ opportunities.
He's on te fringe of the 2nd rd draft.
Getting him straightened out and building his body could see him make the nba
I can already hear Dwayne Russell really milking the Jay-Z connection on the commentary.

"Dwayne Russell really milking the Jay-Z"
The kid makes a 3...
"He had 99 problems but now it's 96 PROBLEMS! OHHH!"
Here's a highlight of him dunking on Marvin Bagley:

Why'd the kid get suspended from college? Seems like a risky move for Melbourne imo
Hopefully he's a dud. More chance of the Kings winning it all.
Can't see him get more than 20mins a game.
In hoops tradition we will all hate on him until he does something.
Gee wizz some of these comments really highlight the continuing stigma of mental health for athletes. Good on him for the opportunity.
I hope MU looked into why he was suspended by Washington. Really really bad reason. This could be a PR disaster..
United following breakers lead again, they had rice and now....?
Can someone just say what he did? All I can find is he was suspended and no further comment made. What did he actually do?

Pretty ordinary decision by Melb United to sign this guy.
Prior to leaving the team, former UW men's basketball player Nahziah Carter sexually assaulted two people, university investigations found this year.
2 victims but maybe more unreported.
Wtf. If te sign him, United andthe nbl will look like morons.
Nz bringing in rice was bad enough.

Why haven't these resulted in criminal indictments?
Right now they are disciplinary actions with the university.

But the alleged victims are the ones speaking out on social media.
Given he has been suspended by his university, you would conclude that he's done something wrong. Whether it is something criminal or not though, is another matter.
"Raped 2 women is what people have said online."
People online say a lot of things though. People like to assume the worst.

So they reported it to the University making it public record, and won't report it to police?
Yes. Do you know the process's a rape victim has to go through when taking it to the police and the justice department?

Okay, first off people are conflating sexual assault with rape. They're not necessarily the same thing. This guy could have done anything from grab ass upwards.
And that's if he even did it. He was reported to the university, not to the police. He was put through the kangaroo court that is the university system and they've come to their own conclusion without the rigours or burden of proof needed for any criminal investigation or trial.
The way I see it, the kid has been punished. If he hypothetically did something as bad as rape I'd find it a bit suspect that neither suspect chose to take that to the police, and both went through university. You'd tend to think two accusers, or more, would be emboldened by eachother's testimony.
And if it's something far lesser than that, then the kid has lost his scholarship. At what point do you decide that the murkiness of this means you can't punish someone twice for something that may not have even happened once?
^^^exactly.
Unless there is evidence of serious miss conduct, the kid deserves another chance.
The NBL has said he won't be signing
Olgun hasn't quite got this one right it would seem

Grabbing someone's arse is indecent assault. Not sexual assault. Generally sexual assault involves unwanted sexual penetration.

From what I'm hearing (beyond this statement) it's not likely we see Nahziah Carter in the NBL this season. #NBL21 https://t.co/OVLPmGNZAF

Looks like he was finalising a deal (like what was reported), and then the deal was pulled after his sexual assault investigation became public. Olgun clearly wasn't wrong here. The deal was on, and then cut today

This was the original tweet:
Nahziah Carter - a 6'6 wing who played three seasons at the University of Washington - is finalising a deal to join Melbourne United as part of the NBL’s Next Stars program, sources told ESPN.https://t.co/kfKBTJvC8S

Not surprised if United cut the deal today. The season is only 1 month away. Teams are making quick decisions.

Dang son, ain't no love in the heart of Melb-City, ain't no love in the heart of town
Regardless of what he did or didn't do, he doesn't qualify as a NS! It's becoming a joke.

"Between the original definition of an NS and the concessions the Sydney Kings got in Lazada, doesn't this guy qualify?"
I would've thought so, he would be draft eligible next year?
Louzada and Jessup seem to be the two exemptions to the original rule.
