Was he on track to be a star NBL player or just a bench player?

Had the tools but was looking like he wasn't going to transition into a senior/nbl type player. Smart move to footy.
Money as a rule is better in AFL as really only the top 3 Aussies on each roster make good money.
Average AFL player makes 371K a year....
The average is always advertised by the afl on how much players can make, but you take the top 10 of your 44 man list off and the rest don't earn any where near that amount. In saying all that afl guys still get more but it got a lot closer till the covid cuts came into basketball. I believe the afl cut only 20% of players salaries across the board, a much fairer way to go about it.
Good luck to any player who can make it to a professional sport, it’s not easy. Very few good enough to be able to choose between one or two.
"The average player wage in 2020 - before coronavirus – was due to be $365,000.
A first-year rookie was due to earn $85,000 this year with match payments of $5,000 per game. A first-year player fresh out of the National Draft would have made just more than $100,000 as a base salary.
According to a Nine report, the total player payment figure for each club was fractionally more than $13 million."

The average drops sharply as stated previously when the top 10 players in your club take half the salary cap. That 365g is average of all players, take the top guys out and it changes quickly. Fyfe is on a million on his own, there are others.
Actually AFL salaries are reasonably evenly spread. Obviously superstars make more than others, but not by the same margin as many other sports. Median salary in the AFL is still over $300k, so fringe-22 players are on decent coin, unlike 9-11 guys in the NBL.
Think players on the fringe of afl rosters could be back in nbl?
Fringe top 22 afl players are lucky to get more than 250k. Don't believe all the hope.
But you have to be among the best NBL players to get $250k, so chances are better in AFL if you're good at both.
Obviously if you’re so good that you can hit the NBA then you can make all footy players look like paupers.
If you can make it to the top clubs in in about 20 euro countries $250g is peanuts, certainly if you got a euro pass port. If you play in the nbl your whole career yes you probably end up behind an afl player in money but you can play a lot longer as an average afl career is just on three years.
Swings and roundabouts.
