Thoughts after round 1? Very underwhelming rosters and standard!
It is Reserves - many players not playing and others not fit.
Like Reserves in summer - means little given who decides to play or not
How did Norwood get a second team in. They looked woeful and shouldn't be there
Very average basketball, most teams treating for what it is, an opportunity to get back on court.
Not worth wasting your time. As an above comment, many looked in poor shape.
Was that really Norwoods NBL1 coach jacking up crap against an underwhelming looking Sturt lineup? He looked like a terrible player and team mate in the 10 mins I saw.
3 clubs have 2 teams entered. The second teams will be young guys, that's what you saw Sturt2 vs Norwood2.
From what I can gather the Norwood NBL1 coach has largely falsified and/or grossly exaggerated statements in what he claims to have done.
Either the Kingdom of Norwood, who often believe their own rubbish anyway, bought it, or they just are not in position of knowledge to even realise it. Was so looking forward to grabbing to popcorn and watching it unravel for both parties but COVID saved them. Well it saved them on the court anyway.

Why put in a second young team? Isn't that the purpose of U18s or U23s
The Forestville U23/1 girls were pathetic last night
Wasn't like Norwood was flooded with coaching candidates. Mr Magoo probably would have been called back for a 2nd interview.
963, literally nobody in this state was interested in Norwood's gig, and given their never ending off court drama, it's not hard to see why.
Problem is people without much of a clue are making decisions, such as appointing this guy.
Surely putting in two club teams is a massive piss take! We were always going to struggle given no imports, no returning college kids, playing Tuesday nights and restrictions galore so why in hell would BSA say "hey lets make it as close to a social comp as possible"! I am waiting for YMCA 3 v Norwood 2, now thats a blockbuster.
My Thursday night social team would make the finals.
Usual suspects of Forestville, North, Norwood will be top. Sturt looking strong too. The rest of the rosters look like junk.
Southern will be ok as well, Riccardo Martin there as well as Demi Skinner for women. Offered to play for central's but they want Sapwell the 3rd to take all the shots.
And the West and Sturt trade of Desantis for Kubank will help both teams
South of course won't field any of their recruits and be in cellar as normal.
Any idea why Owen Hulland played? Is he done with college? Should have returned by now and wouldn't have thought he could play as a div 1.

It should be understood that BSA is comprised of 3 major members groups - Church, Country SA and Basketball Adelaide. BAdel comprises the 10 metro clubs and they decided if Mt Gambier was in or out of Premier League last year and they decided in 2020 to run a 12 week Tuesday night "reserves" comp. Disappointing given that football, soccer and netball all worked out how to have a premier/state league comp (albeit in most cases modified) but that basketball after over 60 years of state league dropped the comp so no Premier League, no Woolacott or Hall medal etc.
I believe the decision not to have PL is the correct decision. After all Clubs and players were advised that the NBL1 season (PL) was CANCELLED and recommended imports be sent home which most imports any competition was going to be significantly compromised.
Only a few clubs or individuals would want to win
Any of those awards in those circumstances
On balance the majority wanted a competition which allowed older players to have a game each week. The Reserves was the obvious answer though the person above has it wrong in at least one area - the decision to make it 12 weeks was BSAs

Yes correct BAdel wanted 9 week reserves comp and I understand that BSA arranged a 12 week comp though I don't know their logic behind this decision
Looks like no one in the country wanted to coach the two superstars at norwood or deal with the ceo so they had to grab someone from a different country to fill the spot. Everyone knows whoever coaches the team isn't the real coach.

Norwood actually pulled their second team out this morning.
Why? What happens to those players now? It looked like they had more than enough.
College classes have moved on-line only at a number of schools in the US which is a problem for internationals on student visas. Any word if Thomas or others have been sent home?
I'm hearing Patty Thomas will be playing with Woodville as soon as he clears quarantine, as per his agreement from last off-season.

I am hearing that Woodville and West have come to terms and Ryan Clark will be a straight swap for Patty Thomas on their return!
Don't be so sure Thomas will play for Woodville. I hear he will play for west under the condition they get rid of Corey.
As will half (no, all) the players they've lost.
This is not the AFL where clubs trade with each other. Except in unusual circumstances players are free to go to other clubs - clearances shouldn't be with held except where a player is unfinancial!
Another facepalm, it was tongue in cheek about the clubs swapping players.

Can't wait to put on the Green & Gold
Go Woodville
Are Valk & Fauser at Norwood? I didn't see them for Norwood 1.
Patty thomas would definitely go to the mighty eagles before Woodville
Rumour has it his connection with eagles runs deep
Valk back to west because his relationship with Corey is strong

Id Dickel at South the worse Womens coach? What I saw on Tuesday, dreadfull
Thomas has severed all ties with forestville. West and Woodville seem to be the frontrunners to acquire his services.
Per woj
Jordy Wilson & Rigby Arkansas with 0 wins, 17 points and 20 towel waves each this Tuesday.
If only you young whippersnappers took the game of basketball as seriously as you took pulling 350 out of an ATM Saturday nights
Dont think Norths win by 20 has been talked about enough. They comfortably beat a very strong Mavs side who boasted a couple of marquee off season signings.
Mavs are poor. North have a reduced squad as some players have decided to take off until next year. People reading anything into this competition have too much time to waste.
Heard North tried to sign Prider, but he demanded too much $
I'm thinking only Andy could afford Prider in this state!
Does a bear shit in the woods? Of course he is! #064
He's going to Woodville from what I’ve heard. One two punch Prider & Patty
Aric Miller back at North after hearing of Hawkes departure.
That'll be a three man punch with the big, totally not an underachiever, man in the middle Devon McGee!
Spear, Mudronja, Kubank & D Nash core going to be a problem for a while

Valk only playing in the Div 1 team, not NBL1. Fauser and Rennie will return also to play Div.1 only at west. Pat Thomas to return but will only play if Corey is moved on. T Kubank left as did not like the message Corey was giving. A Kubank talking with South.
Kubank and Desantis to MtG when proper basketball returns.
Some clubs been saving their pennies this year and ready to open up the tills and buy more brown paper bags
Looks like a few coaching positions might be free next year

North will only win games because of Jack and Tobias. Hawkes needs to go, definately bring back Aric. Most of the old ones need to go to, they also need a big who can play.
Jack didn't play on Tuesday. The majority of Norths squad is U23 and every one else in 20’s.
Hawkes is gone. Shilde & Greatz both capable bigs
They need Starling and Sam Johns badly. Got pumped by 57 on Tuesday night. It's first game for sure, but 57 is a lot!
To be fair to South, Sturt are looking the goods this year.
I'm sure whomever wins the ABC will put it high on their list of achievements.
mmm, no Dickel is not the worst.
Pretty sure women's coaches at Woodville and Centrals take that honour by a mile.
North look really good
Woodville look new, don't recognise many of their players
South look not very good at all
Sturt look like they may cause a few upsets
Woodville without imports pushed a stacked Forestville team.
Warriors v Eagles was a good game. Warriors had Eagles but choked in the dying minutes. Warriors didn't have their entire team either and if they have the so called additional players that above are talking about - well that could be a game changer. Brine injured his ankle end of game so not sure what his status for the rest of the season. Harris had a very weak game held to 8 points for the game - hit and miss.
These 2nd teams are a joke and only bringing the comp down. It's supposed to the best team a club can bring forward and the rest should just play in their allocated teams like U18/U23's etc.
Tell that to South men. They only have one team and still got smashed.

What happens if any of these second teams beat the first teams? Unlikely but I wouldn't completely write them off.
Lets face it, most of the Norwood team wouldn't have played Premier League since they only would go 6 deep during season. Probably closest they will ever get to playing, especially if it sounds like the coach has tickets on himself.
If they are capable players they should look around at options to play
I look forward to the day Glenelg can run a B side in the SANFL. What a joke BSA is. Might as well just run one 30 team comp. Good experience for all. FUN!!!

"Tell that to South men. They only have one team and still got smashed."
They obviously didn't have all their players playing
South's trajectory has a great slope just the wrong direction.

"Did any club have all their players playing?"
Which Woolacott Medallist winner did Sturt have missing or any other team? Which All-Star 5 player did Sturt have missing or any other team?
Im not sure Starling has ever averaged 57 points! Other clubs had NBL players missing and imports missing.
The reality Brunson is that south's local contingent isn't very good.
Ummm, nearly every import went home as they could not earn money here.
Why has Hawkes gone.
South still hasn't worked out their coach sucks, all well and good recruiting players but what about developing the ones you have

"South still hasn't worked out their coach sucks, all well and good recruiting players but what about developing the ones you have"
Clutching at straws much? 5 of the 8 that played last night were South Juniors
"The reality Brunson is that south's local contingent isn't very good."
I hope last night's result didn't upset you too much.
"Im not sure Starling has ever averaged 57 points!"
Probably not but Starling, Johns and Ellison would average over that
I don't really care for glorified reserves which is a step up from Social
Brunson,
5 out of 8 is a start but much of the development happened pre his time. I believe North have 8 from 9 juniors playing last night
Last night's result didn’t upset me. Firstly it was Norwood and secondly I think two players from other clubs accounted for half your points scored
Ellison played in round 1 and scored 7. Not sure Johns and Starling would average 50 per week
So has Owen Hulland transferred to Forestville, played for Norwood week 1 then Eagles last night.
Just further proof that this is a nothing competition
What's the point of these 2nd teams? Should've played them in Senior div 1s so you don't get team 1 vs team 2 at reserves level because that just looks weird
It is silly season and anyone who reads anymore into this is just as silly. Just giving it a fancy name and a fancy write-up was and I'd just a waste of time and effort. Call it as it is - Reserves!!!!
^but what is it reserves to, there's nothing above it so it's the best local basketball there is.
Not if players elect not to play and wait till next season.
Apart from imports that have returned home are many of the best players not suiting up? I'm not talking the 8th to 10th players. I’m talking the legit starters.
if ABC is the best league currently I guess that makes Div 1 reserves? Basketball SA is just scuffed
