What is going on with the Wildcats?

The Wildcats have been super quiet the past 4 days. With 4 spots remaining on their roster and all the key players snapped up, what do they have planned, as they need a PG, Centre and Power Forward! Anyone heard anything solid?

This is standard practice for the Cats in the last few years, that are never really active early.

Just relax, things sort themselves out if it's a well run club.

Fair bit of cloud with Cotton situation plus needing an Aussie big if Cotton doesn't naturalise.

Could conceivably need an import 4 and 5 if Reath heads back to Europe but Cotton is a local.

NORTON / ???
COTTON (AUSSIE?) / SWAKA
BLANCHFIELD (RUMOR) / STEINDL
IMPORT / WAGSTAFF
REATH (THEY HOPE) / MAJOK

DP - TRAVERS

Had there been big (suitable) targets available, then I imagine Perth would have gone hard. Naturally rumours about players we did go after and why, but hard to say for sure.

The Wildcats will take their time.

They will eventually fill their roster, and all the Sydney & Melbourne fans will gloat about how their side 'is better on paper'.

These people will proclaim that the Wildcats playoff run is over.

The season will start and these people will fill this forum with bitter comments (out of jealousy and envy) that the Wildcats are only winning due to 'home cooking', that 'Gleeson is a flog', and whatever another nonsense they can come up with to make themselves feel better.

The Wildcats might an import change to better challenge for the championship.

The Wildcats despite having a less-talented roster than Sydney or Melbourne, win the whole thing, and the bitterness will continue.

CHILL man. There are 27 threads each year where HATERS claim that the mighty Wildcats are dead and that Trev can't coach and the league has moved on and they need to sign more players. Check out the board last season - it was full of dopey Cats pessimism. How did the GF end up again? Can someone remind me?

Every year we prove the haters WRONG.

In Trev & Troy we trust. This ball club has the GREATEST culture of any Australian sporting organisation.

Yeah, fancy spending big on the best payer in the league, where's the logic in that. But for his injury, Cotton would have completed a MVP 3-peat.
Better to spend more money luring somebody who can go MIA in the finals,
Or even more money on somebody that can't play a full season and can't make it through a 5-game GF series.

It's not Wildcats fans that claim we have less talent, its the muppets who year after year write them off, and think their own team's shit doesn't stink.

At the moment, Cotton is most probably the highest paid guy in the league (over 3 years anyway) but we still have to see how we fill the remaining spots, and the calibre of imports signed by other teams.

The NBL are obviously being pretty tactical about how they are announcing these free agency signings. Just because we haven't heard about a signing doesn't mean there aren't a few more deals agreed to out there.

Well Damn, that's another domino that hasn't fallen our way.
Who are we going to sign as our backup PG?
Hopefully there is an announcement pending, and hopefully its red hot.

Cornholio

Not sure how red hot you would expect a backup point guard to be.
Britt is 24 this year and still qualifies as a DP for one more year if the club go that way. Has been tearing it up in nznbl but that should be taken with caution as many imports aren't playing in that comp.

Not too many names jump out on the remaining free agent list.

Could try to get an Asian player maybe or attempt to get someone like Mcdowellwhite which might sound far fetched but he is only 22 and had little impact in G League.

Perth should also try to get a next star, not necessarily a point guard to help bolster roster.

I meant the announcement, not the player per se, if that makes any sense?
And no, I can't even imagine what that would be.
But so far, apart from retaining Cotton, we're going backwards at every position, and with the league shaping to be very competitive, that's a worry. I'm sure they have it in hand, just anxious to see it take shape.

Sadly D2.0 is right
PG. Losing Damo
SG. The same so that's good
SF. Losing White. Blanchfield is a good get as a local
PF. Losing Kay... the import needs to be an all nbl level stud.
C: losing Plumlee, No guarentee of getting Reath what other options are available.

Once Cotton gains his citizenship the glass goes from half empty to half full quickly.

For a while now Trev has been saying we would sue the import slot to replace Kay, and I've simply accepted that as given.
But rumour has it we are going with a local PF...

Not sure I buy it though. Who's left?
Could it be we're hoping Reath will become available and would play the PF role??

Nice if true, but yeah not a huge amount of cash to splash on a Motum type player, given what it took to re-sign Cotton, and the need to still sign an import.
