Kiwis In Free Agency

Interesting to see a theme developing early in FA with a number of Kiwi's currently without a gig and apart from potentially Kenny doesnt appear to be spots on their incumbent squads.

The squeeze with rosters going from 11 to 10 could see a competitive 10th squad on the floor this season with 2 imports of course.

SMITH-MILNER - An upgrade on Trist but missed the boat.
PLEDGER - Suits PHX shortfall as experienced big.
NGATI - Blagojevic upgrade for Cairns
VODANOVICH - Not NBL calibre in current climate.
KENNY - Good value and chance to return for Cairns

The roster squeeze is a bit misleading really it's just 3 imports down to 2.
Same amount of local spots available.

SMITH-MILNER -not good enough, End of bench guy at best, thinks he is better thou

PLEDGER - Experienced big will find a home.
NGATI - Will find a home
VODANOVICH - Not good enough (End of bench guy at best)
KENNY - Will find a home as a back up behind Import PG

Kenny the only legit Nbl calibre player, the rest might scrape through, might not.

Smith Milner , Vodanovich and maybe Ngatai won't find a spot.
Kenny is good enough to play in Cairns again.
TeRangi linked to SEM.
Vukona retire?
Rusbatch NZ Breakers?
Pledger could go to a handful of clubs still a serviceable backup centre.

I would've liked to have seen the Sixers sign Pledger. Maybe three seven footers is too top heavy but as said he's still a very serviceable back up centre.

Yeah Zodiac, that sounds sane. What do you do when Brisbane signs three footers? Add another to your own squad that already has two. Brilliant!

I swear Rusbatch deciding to not play NZ-NBL and play the Breakers scrimmages (over Vodanovich and Ngatai) suggests he's in for 2020-21 - definitely an NBL 3-and-D wing in my mind.

Could Jarrod Kenny fill the backup 1 role with Perth? He's played that role before in a prior NBL Finals - don't know if there's a better PG fit with Damo retired.

I hope Vukona and Pledger find spots and aren't forced out of the NBL - but I don't believe Bris/Melb will re-sign them. SEM could fit for either (especially with Judd Flavell). Would rather have either player than Dan Trist.

Also interested to see if any young NZ talents get picked up as DPs - Leafa, Hunt, Britt, Bezzant, Kelman-Poto.

TSM has had a good NZ nbl series. Certainly a better option than Trist.
