Lighting sign Alanna Smith

Adelaide Lightning have managed to secure the prized signature of Australian Opal Power Forward Alanna Smith for the upcoming WNBL season. What a fantastic addition to the team.

Great signing for the Lightning. Chris doing a great job behind the scenes.

Not sure it is behind the scenes bobncat - more likely flashing the money around at the front, still a good catch

Nicholson to Sydney?
Seekamp to Goat farming?

I'm thinking... maybe?

Mansfield/Elsworthy
Madgen/Fejo
Talbot/Kaser
Smith/Brook
Bishop/Edwards

Don't think Elsworthy is back, believe she has been told to explore her options

Smith is an awesome signing for our front court - but we have lost 2 of the best guards in the country

Yes, and no other high end point guards around.

Only pgs left are Mansfield, Wallace, tupaea, Reid, tessari, conti, oneill, giliam, angley

Mansfield and angley both from sa.
Would mean Perth have ebzery and young j.williams as backup

Romeo- unlikely, spends most time in Italy
Cann(Donnelly)- didn't play last season, had child.
Yaeger- finished college at oregon
Mangakahia- could be stuck here before finall season of college
Panousis- spent last couple of years in Greece.
Some other pgs around

as was mentioned before - this may be the season for opportunity - some new world class standard players step up and deliver. Ones we never would have expected. No reason why a second or third tier player can't have a breakout season.

Maybe an import guard is on the cards.
would love to see brianna turner back, but maybe the signing of smith says that isn't happening

Maybe an import guard is on the cards.

What's officially on the cards for this season is no imports for any team.

I wonder with no imports this season will we see the return of Batgirl. She would probably still dominate most Aussie bigs.

How will this competition even survive? Crowd restrictions will hurt unless they go to bigger venues allowing crowds to spread out, but then higher court costs. Sponsorship would reduce with money not out there atm. Assuming salaries will reduce and imports up in the air. And who wants to go on East coast road trip with potential for infection and getting paid peanuts and most cases then having to miss working.
Best time if it does go ahead is to buy a championship, someone tips in cash other clubs can't compete with.

Wallace, hasn't played for 3 seasons, and hasn’t really played women’s, only college level, be interesting to see how she pulls up
Mansfield , Tupaea, also injury prone, every year Tupaea is injured, how long do you keep going ?
Tessari too slow as PG,
Reid, O’Neil and Guillam out of depth still development level
Why is Antoniadou not playing, she dominates as a true PG in NBL , she had a few seasons with Rangers, then college , didn’t she play with Boomers pre season? Did she go to football?
Conti said she would still like to play, though think she’s much better at football, absolute gun on the field

Conti could only really play for vic side.

Think conti will be a no show for wnbl , football is demanding and No WNBL team is going to play second to football
Agree she's a much better footballer than she ever was/will be a basket baller

Adelaide has lost 2 of the best guards in the comp - great opportunity for someone to step up but big shoes to fill.

How can Conti move from Victoria whilst training aflw, I think it would have to be the backup pg at Bendigo.
