Cats v Bullets Feb 9

This where we might see the Bullets tumble out of the 4. Welcome to Perth, hope you had a nice flight, please have a seat while the locals open one big can of whoop-ass.

Brisbane have a bogie team in the Breakers who are making their ascent up the table like Hilary in Everest. A Brisbane win today might just hold them off, but a loss today would see the Bullets on 14/13 and out of the 4 on %.

Perth at home is always hard. 9 and 3 is their record this season, which is down from the usual 9 and 1 type record fans expect. Like the gladiatorial battles of old, the fans call for the blood of the opponents and are rarely disappointed when Damo lifts the severed heads of point guards to the crowd. There's a reason why they wear red and that is to hide the blood.

Hope Brisbane have packed the brown jocks because it's gunna be a hell of a ride. Perth in Perth either win by 20, or lose by 20. Today they win by 20.

Perth are the most ruthless team in the league. Had to see them tripping up pn this one. Brisbane have to win this and Cairns to make playoffs. One win will leave Brisbane relying on South Melbourne putting the Breakers away. Plenty of interest with Melbourne still a mathematical chance.

Perth will put Brisbane out of hope this afternoon, brave effort by bullets lately but to many flakey players. Perth to beat there chests on every Plumlee dunk. It could get ugly. Perth by 18.

If Cats win this and Taipans drop the next two, we probably see Bullets, Breakers, United 15-13 each and they are all on 101% with United then Breakers then Bullets if we break down the point percentages.

Maybe Trev should go back to starting him. He generally played better when that happened, and it would avoid the risk of early fouls by Plums.

Respect to someone who shoots down their own argument even before they make it.
You highlight the fact that White looked asleep for the most of the game, but then claim it never looked like he was cruising. LMFAO

I found that one an interesting game to watch despite it being pretty ugly from both teams, but I'm probably in the minority on that one.
Just glad to get the W and have the captain back and making an instant positive impact. Also glad that Steindl didn't get shy after missing a bunch of good looks early.
Hopefully that was the last midrange jumpshot I ever see Plumlee take.

Interesting that an import can keep his job just on the promise that when finals arrive he'll suddenly come to life.
Plumlee looks a bit lost, maybe brought in too late to adjust to league. But his main job will to battle Bogut in GF if both teams make it. Hopefully refs will let the big boys play, but IMO Plumlees inability to keep Bogut from sagging off and roaming freely to help in key on drivers will hurt cats. Despite pedigree should have gone for a stretch 5. Bogut too good if Plumlee posts him up.

White has not had a bad season, it just been very similar to last season.
In which he was a bit inconsistent, and you had to wonder "Can Perth do Better?"
Then he stepped up hugely in the finals.
IF he can do that again, then as Perth you'd find that a very acceptable result.

As for Plums, he's already had a huge impact.
His bball IQ is exceptional, a vast improvement on hunt.
His endeavour is unquestionable, not often you see your centre chasing the ball like he does, and everything he does endears him to his teammates.

Bogut (with his mouth closed) is one of the greatest players to come out of Australia, and whilst he wasn't my personal pick for MVP, his impact on the league last season was undeniable. But the injuries are taking their toll.
Prime Bogut definitely better than Prime Plumlee, but Plums has got a few years on him.

13,501 in attendance in the jungle today. Turns out that is more than the average Big Bash League (cricket) finals attendance this season.

AVERAGE ATTENDANCE FOR BBL FINALS
BBL07 (2017/18) — 43,330

White needs to get healthy. I feel like they overdid looking for plumlee early and have since forgotten how damaging he can be as the roll man in a simple pick and roll. We also know the cats don't play all there counters until the post season. I think it was 8to to bullets and 0 to perth at the half, could have been ugly if the ball was going in.

I haven't looked at the numbers, but it felt like the Cats completely shut down the Bullets outside shot compared to the last few months, Bullets always tend to light us up, and have been on a shooting tear recently just from watching them play. Was a fairly average game, Cotton and Kay were immense again, as was Patterson for the Bullets, but he had no help at all. Refs were absolutely horrendous again, don't heads roll in the NBA if terrible calls are made? These guys need to be held accountable if they want to referee at this level and should cop some type of punishment when they make horrendous calls. I'm assuming they're not paid that well maybe?

Has Sobey lived up to expectations in his first season in Brisbane ?? While I don't normally agree with anything Heal says I think he’s right on there imports, bar Patterson, is they just took time from there locals, most of whom went backwards. Needed an import point guard and Patterson, all other positions covered by Australian players.

While Plumlee has only had one standout game, he doesn't look anywhere near as lost as Hunt, who constantly had a look of bemusement on his face. Plumlee was solid yesterday, particularly when almost zero plays were run for him to get an easy lob.

Plumlee's footwork is great too and can handle the ball, something our bigs have lacked for years. It's nice seeing your big man get the ball and not internally say, "please don't travel".
