Maybe I'm reading this wrong but how can Weaver coach the Boomers when he will be coaching the Kings in the playoffs?

Anyway, for all the people who are in love with throwing the next YouTube mixtape star into a Boomers team, NOW is the chance. With very little to lose, and a subpar talent pool to play against, and a tournament that means little to anyone, you can now play around with your Tamuri Wignesses and Josh Giddeys.

And that's what I want to see. I want to see 6 veterans to keep the ship steady, and 6 guys who could conceivably be in the mix for the 2023 world cup. Wasting spots for guys who are a little past it in age, or who are maybe better than these kids now, but have lower ceilings, isn't worth it for this.

I want to see Giddey, Wigness, Sam Frolling, Will Magnay, Noi, Pineau and Naar all get a spot.

I'm taking away Cairns and Melbourne players on assumption ( not fact) that they will be in the playoffs.

As ME has said earlier we don't need all veterans just a few.
I would take Creek, Drmic and Sobey.
Would take Giddey and Wigness for valuable experience.
Other promising young talent such as Magnay,Naar, Sam Froling, Dech and Pineau all should get a run.

DJ will be 35 at next world cup.
I agree with giving younger guys like Magnay a chance.

I'm surprised this isn't common knowledge now, but Ogilvy cooked his own goose in 2012 when he missed out the Olympic team. He posted on Twitter mocking the Boomers for losing during the tournament. The players on the team don't like him (how much does Bogut delight in destroying him?) and the coaches have long memories, as that was Brett Brown it happened under.

Ogilvy did his dash.

The only upside of this tournament I see is that it allows the Boomers to widen their depth even further as to who could potentially be called upon when the time comes.

Some are still whinging about the selection, but it worked well for Nick Kay, who was at very least a very solid Boomer in major tournament. He was blooded over the course of Asia Cup qualifiers, and never actually played in a World Cup qualifier or anything else of significance before then.

And you never know who is going to take to the international game. There might be someone in this line up who shines more playing international ball than he does in the NBL. Jason Cadee probably sits in that equation, despite only realistically being good enough to show out against Asian level teams.

Assuming we take 12 and if we drew a line through Sydney, Perth, Cairns and Melbourne teams we'd look at something like this. I'm not convinced we'll take Wigness or Giddey, rather just give them some exposure in camp.

I'd much prefer to start Gliddon over Cadee at the point but get the impression Cadee might get the starters gig.

Definitely go with more young guys and a few vets.
We don't need Creek, Drmic and Blanchfield all together.
Same as we don't need all 3 Brisbane guards.

This squad isn't very good at all.....pity we couldn't use the guys in NBL finals.

Not much they can do with what's left, I prob would've tried going with less youth though. This seems stronger with enough experience to get through without a loss.

That Boomers team should win both games still. But the only players with any future potential for the Boomers are Giddey and Sam Frolling. I'd be extremely surprised if any of the others feature in anything meaningful ever.
