I hear a rumour and its only a rumour that there are more then a few junior players and some junior coaches leaving Eastern? If this is true what is happening up there as they don't have a lot of junior teams to start with.

from what i know - only 6 girls teams nominated - sounds a bit terminal to me

#4670 If that is true then it might be the basketball gods saying, produce your own players instead of looking to rebuild your club by offering any player a spot from other clubs who have:
- played for SA country
- parents who live in the country
- ever lived on a farm, in fact anyone who has ever lived more then 5 minutes from the CBD (that's got to be country!)
- ever driven through Harndorf
- mastered the moves to the "heal and toe" polker
- ever watched McLeods daughters
- a pair of overalls or anything flanalet
AND ESPECIALLY
- those who play for the evil empire.....
I love it when the Evil Empire complain about other Clubs taking their kids. They don't even see the irony!

From what I hear in the last 6 monthes they have lost 10 level 2 coaches, 10 teams and about a 1/3rd of their playing lists in seniors players are looking for games elsewhere especially girls even though the coach won coach of the year.
It would appear that administrators who have no idea are running things again.

Eastern Mavericks has have lost players to other clubs for varying reasons. However we have also gained new players this season.
We have lost and gained coaching staff.
As those who have been involved for a while know all Clubs go through cycles and have players or families who leave for different reasons. Eastern Mavericks is going through some changes at present however our leading coaching staff (including the Mens and Womens Coaches of the Year 2005) gives us a sound building base for now and into the future.
The Committee and Coaching Staff are strongly committed to our players and excited about our future.
It is easy to come on and post negative comments about other clubs however what does that achieve?
We have gone through a difficult year as have other clubs in the past, however we have also had some great success during the year as well.

Red dog dont ever let the facts get in the way of a good story. No sen. women missing from monday nights training in fact the largest group ever at this time of year. Yes some coaches gone and some players.To state that 10 coaches and 1/3 of the players have left is a gross untruth and one would wonder what would motivate someone to make that kind of statement on a public forum

well said neil - every club has peaked and troughed - it's all about attitude.
many have left other clubs for supposed greener pastures - some have found them - but many have also found the same perceived problems elsewhere
mavericks should now look for quality from small numbers rather than quanitity

the u18 girls showed that at the classics - more quality than quanitity

Then they stuffed it in the winter season finals. Strong at the begining but teams worked them out in the end but they did have a good year.
