Adelaide v Perth Jan 1

Seems like a year, maybe a decade, since the last NBL game.

This game bookends Round 13, and what a way to do it. Traditional Rivals Adelaide and Perth going toe to toe. Adelaide will need to be in the best form to have any hope of stopping the Cats from taking the crown of top spot off the Kings. Damian Martin is out and that will hurt the Cats, but he is the least of the Sixers problems with Cotton and White scoring at will and Kay having his way with anyone he wants around the key. For a codger about to turn 35 next year the Flop-staff off the bench is worth his weight in Bunbury prawns.

Something needs to change at Adelaide. Three losses in a row and OK two of them were to teams running into form (Breakers and Snakes) but who loses to the Hawks these days? Oh.... except Sydeney....

I must admit I am a little confused with the rotations that Joey is using. OK, Randle and Johnson are lock in starters, but I don't think some rotations work together and some don't seem to match their opponents. There are also some Sixers who have gone missing over the last month and these guys need to stand up.

Last time thy met the Cats licked their whiskers by 4 points and they seem like they have more to gain from winning this game.

"Sufferin' succotash!" Sadly.... The Sylvester Cats by 6

Clint is back.

Wildcats has no match for Johnson, and Randle.

Cotton wil have to go for 30 and White 20. Wagstaff and Clint 10 each. Wildcats needs someone to get more than 10 rebounds as Johnson will be getting 20pts 10 rebounds as a bare minimum.

Can't see the Wikdcats winning this one in Adelaide, Adelaide has far too much at stake here.

Talking about stake Adelaide by 6, $500

Perth should win with some ease. Adelaide look completely out of sink and team chemistry or patience with Randle taking every shot, looks like it's at an all time low.

Regardless, it’s the nbl, so who knows, but on paper and off recent form, cats have too much to play for and should be locked in. Kings have left the door wide open.

In Adelaide's favour.

- DJ and Randle seem to play well against Perth.
- Damien Martian is wearing a moon boot.
- We are at home and should be a sell out.

Perth seem to always choke when they are about to grasp top spot.

No, that's not really true. They’ve been terrible. They’ve gone missing for major periods of play, and they have their heads down most of the time, watching on as Randle dribbles out the shotclock. Disheartened bunch.

I hate the double standard about home cooking on here with certain teams like Perth. Some people seem to turn a blind eye to it and tell Cats fans to stop complaining when Perth get screwed playing away, but then when Perth have calls go their way at home those same people complain about Perth getting home cooking.

Lets face home cooking is a fairly common thing, and if the refs are trash (which they often are in this league) they can be called out and complained about.

First off, why should Perf fans be any different? Second of all, to be fair I feel most have only whinged because it had an effect of the result, which it did. Some games have terrible reffing that doesn't really effect one team more than the other, but losing their 3 talls in succession clearly impacted the result.

That was a great spirited win. It's a simple game and it's amazing what can happen when you pass the ball around get defences off foot and make everyone on the floor a threat. Glad to see Joey rip Randle out in the 4th when he started going back to hero ball. Randle himself becomes much harder to guard if he's a threat to pass it.

No, flopping cost Perth the game, no reffing cost Perth the game, so what’s your point?

As a general perspective I’m sure the NBL can do more to punish clear flops post match - perhaps two strikes = suspension because clearly players will risk a flop tech to get a game winning foul call their way. Only way to deter is if the ability to play future games is on the line.

Sadly there are a couple of factions that sneak in here masquerading as Sixers fans. The first group I suspect think they are fans, but do nothing but whinge and attack regardless. They were either going to bitch about Joey and the boys, or Perth and their fans. These are the ones who have attacked Moore and Griffin all season long, and now have turned on Randle. The second group you'll seee in every game thread involving Perth. They don't actually appear to support any team that I can tell, but just love attacking "Perf". Must be a pretty miserable existence.
Like I said I will happily take the win, but can't blame Perf fans for being cheesed at the poor reffing.

Playing the blame game on the refs is just deflecting from how your team played. The refs will make poor calls and mistakes, it happens, however they are no different to the mistakes players make during the game, and i'd hazard a guess if you went through the game, the players would actually make more mistakes. I would rather my team control what they can control, their own actions and decision making on court.

The fact remains the Perth team shot terribly from the 3pt line for the first 3 quarters and keep going to it, we got back in the game, by ball movement and taking it inside, it was pretty dumb basketball for 3 quarter, and a bit more smarter play we may have won that game.

Yep we had a bigs on the bench at the end, and yes Kays last foul was questionable, but don't give away cheapies earlier on and that would not be a factor. As for Hunt well he spends most of the game on the bench anyway due to the fact he has not adjusted to how the game is called in Australia, he won't be the last overseas player to struggle with how it's called, but it is on him to adjust his playing style, something he seems incapable of doing.

Stuff the ref talk, it won't change.

Interesting point about Moore, he has been woeful at best. If randle continues to pass the ball and buy into a team basketball concept, and the 36ers could upgrade on Moore to an import that’s a true threat, not just another floater, which yes would cost money, they’d be a real chance at the playoffs. Having said all that, as is, cairns will get 4th I think and may push whoever gets 1st.

Vic wildcat, Perth did control what they could, by your own account they started going inside, even hit the front, rhen what happened? 3 bigs removed questionably. Thats what is so frustrating, Adelaide never had to adjust once perths bigs got fouled out, they had a clear advantage and it won them the game in the end, pity we didn't get to see a real finish to the game.

As much as I hate flopping like everyone else let me explain to you all why players feel they need to flop. Refs will NOT call a charge if a player is in a legal defensive position and doesn't fall. He can be run in to and be pushed backwards and nothing happens. So they feel to get the charge they need to exaggerate the contact, without it they never get the charge call. It’s wrong yes. Bottom line if refs called the contact correctly players may stop flopping.
