Taipans v Sixers Dec 22
Every team is allowed one bad game per season, but it seems the Sixers thought they could get away with a game so bad, even Michael Jackson giggled at their badness. That's not taking anything away from the Hawks who played well.
Another "Double death points game" for both teams who are still hunting 4th. An Adelaide loss sees them both go to 8/9 with Cairns saying "thank you" as they snatch 4th spot back. An Adelaide win sees them go 9/8 and one game away from the soy sipping United. Of course in all of this, the Green Machine play Sydney tomorrow and a win there, combined with a Cairns win sees them slip into 4th. Lots at play today for both teams, and more.
Adelaide's 84 at home was the lowest score all season and the Hawks exposed warts the Sixers never knew they had. Despite a record crowd and everything going for them, they almost seemed like they dared to lose the game in some alternative universe thing. I had to double check to make sure Marty wasn't holding the clipboard on the sidelines. I was even looking for Mr Meeseeks with a plan to lose the game.
Cairns have lost their last two games, but have been playing some quality basketball, especially at home where they are 5 and 3. Considered as the budget team of the competition, they remind us why we love this sport. When they keep their game plan simple, they win. They only lose games when they over complicate it with extra, extra, extra passes, or they try to do fancy tricks that even Michael Jordan would say "I ain't doing that"
It's Adelaide's first trip to FNQ and they might be watching their P's and Q's if they play like they did on Friday night. Cairns have the fresher legs and at home are a team that can beat anyone. Give those boys in orange some little robber's masks, they're stealing 4th spot from the Sixers.
