NBL1 2020

A heap of signing announcements coming through over the last couple of weeks.

Some big names changing teams in both the men's and women's comps.

Geelong and Frankston look to be the early pace setters in the men's.

Will be interested to see how Bijan Johnson goes at this level. Should get plenty of opportunity to shine in Albury/Wodonga.

Bijan's game is going to get exposed at NBL1 level. Got away with a lot of low IQ stuff in PL because he was more athletic than most guards. Won’t get away with it in NBL1, they’ll just bench him.

Will NBL players who log more than a certain amount of minutes (7.5 I believe) still be classified as imports.

If that is the case I think the NBL1 should abolish this rule. The more NBL talent the better, alongside quality imports.

Any Australian player who averages more than 20 minutes per game in the NBL, WNBL or the higher level leagues in Europe is classed as a B restricted player in NBL1.

Naar averaged less than 20 minutes per game with Illawarra. Unless they've changed the rules that means he'll be unrestricted. Pineau averaged 26 so he'll be B restricted.

Each team can have three restricted players but no more than two A restricted (imports). So if they have the money, Melbourne could still sign another import or another B restricted player.
