Prather out 4-6 weeks
According to NBL on FB. What do United do? Sit him out the entire season and get a replacement import and hope he recovers next season?

Be ruthless and move on, his best is well behind him. His last three seasons has been out for 2/3 in premiership team, out all season and a few games this season and injuries continuing.
Feel terribly sorry for him. The way he hurt himself in the last game was sheer back luck!

Melb have to be ruthless at least this season, I agree. Badly need an aggressive 3 man who can penetrate and play D - i.e. another guy like Prather - otherwise they look too one dimensional to challenge for a title this season IMO.

Sucks for Casey. Hopefully the recent spate of injuries doesn't affect him long term, even if that’s not in the NBL.

Bring back Carrick Felix*
* Wait, he's retired isn't he? Ok, then someone like him. Elite defender, and unselfish player on offense who doesn't need too much of the ball

United should focus on Perth firstly, and Sydney secondly. What type of player will give United the best chance of beating Perth, and then Sydney?
Cos the thing is, United doesn't need anyone right now. They’ve been missing Prather most of the season, with a major injury to Pledger also, and Goulding, Barlow and Ili all missing games. And they’re still 3rd on the ladder. They could play out the season and they’re talented enough to avoid dropping lower than 3rd.
But, quite likely United will be playing Perth in a semi final series, and then Sydney in a GF if successful.
Even without Prather, United has as much, if not more, offensive talent and scoring firepower than Perth. But where do Perth have advantages? Where have Perth beaten United in the past? The same ways they beat everybody else: Defense, Offensive rebounding, and Bryce Cotton. With the odd clutch cameo from Terrico White.
So find a versatile defender, with length and athleticism who provides another option for defending Cotton. And a good rebounder. Doesn’t need to be a good scorer, just needs to find their fit offensively and contribute 10 points a game.
Sydney is obviously a tougher challenge- they just don’t have a weakness. But that type of player will add balance to United’s roster and place them in good stead for a grand final matchup.
Perhaps United should have done due diligence on Prather in the first instance. Damaged goods already and now after playing basically no time he's hurt again. Expensive mistake imo.

Do MU need to recruit a gun defender, or simply place a higher priority on individual and TEAM D?

Prather is too ball dominant.
We need someone who fits alongside the others. CG, Trimble and Long already use a lot of the ball.
Past imports, best examples I can think of are Dave Thomas and Carrick Felix
You had Craig Moller and would not play him after he and Felix did the job 50/50 the premiership season. MU just like big name imports. Hooley also could do a job, no worse than Illi or McDaniel. What's McDaniel position?

Ili is a clear upgrade on Hooley.
Moller would be great right now. I'd prefer him over McDaniel, or Smith Milner. Or even Lual Acuil. I guess Sydney showed him the $, and he chose to join the most expensive looking roster in history. What can you do?
Moller played 13mpg and 12mpg in his 2 seasons at United, this year he's played 21mpg so far, but that might reduce significantly now with Cooks on board. So will he end up with more opportunities in Sydney, or less?
You are just guessing as usual LV.
United roster is the most expensive roster ever put together. There top six players are on mega.
