ILL v CNE Nov 25
Cairns would be cock 'o hoop after demolishing the Cats on Saturday. Will they have the legs to knock off the well rested Hawks, or can the Hawks swoop on the opportunity, get the W, and then jump the Breakers to get off the bottom of the table?
The Hawks season has stumbled from disaster to disaster, but if there's one thing that Cairns does well is lose crucial games when they need to. I guess if you are going to shoot yourself in the foot, you might as well do it with a 12 gauge. This is one such game that Cairns needs to win if they want to be in the mix for Spot4.
Hawks can steal this one if they want to and the risk to Cairns is that the post Cats celebrations will take their toll. A win for the Snakes will see them end the round on 5 & 6, equal with the 36ers and the 18ers on a win/loss record, but will see the order go Cairns, Adelaide, Brisbane and let them really put pressure on the 4th spot. R9 sees them host the unstoppable United, and then in R10 they host the Broken Breakers before heading to the City of Sin. They should get 1 W, but could almost get an upset W in there a well.
The battle of the guards will be pretty impressive and the Hawks will bomb it from outside the arc. Hawks at home are always tough, but Cairns will run and gun like there's a crocodile on the court. I'm tipping a narrow Cairns win with a strong last quarter by the Hawks to make this game get down to the last possession. Cairns to get the W 89 to 88.
