Hawks v Sixers Oct 21
The Sixers are off to Steel City to bookend this round. The Hawks won a close one against the Taipans to record their only win so far this season but met an unstoppable force in the Phoenix on the weekend. The Phoenix are just going along nicely at the moment. The Sixers gave the Bullets a lesson too earlier in the round after getting a reaming in Sydney the week before.
Wollongong has not been a great hunting ground for the Sixers in the past with the Hawks being able to pluck out of their chests the beating heart of the Sixers when they want to. Probably the big point tonight are the Froling boys. One on each side means it'll be an interesting time for the commentators, and with a bit of sibling rivalry around those boards, but remember it could be like Oktoberfest with a bit of brother on brother slapping and if that happens let the "roll out the barrel" music play.
In all seriousness though, the Hawks have been playing not too badly. Coenraad has the haircut any middle aged accountant would be proud of and has been shooting like a rookie looking for a contract with 48% from outside the arc. Obviously with Oscar gone surfing someone has stood up.
Both the front and back courts of the Hawks are obviously more experienced than the Sixers, but the Sixers are more agile, so their run and gun game will drag some of those old timers around and the Sixers might be able to get a couple of easy fouls as they slow the game down.
I'm expecting another close one tonight. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses that seem to be polar opposite in my opinion so this will come down to the coach with the better plan.
We all know Joey has been able to survive those threads and has the thick skin to handle anything that is thrown at him, or poured on him as it goes in the 'Gong. That's why I'm tipping the Sixers by 4.
