36ers gave away 4000 tickets to the pre season game?

Heard from a few people today that whilst the headline is that over 6000 people attended the 36ers pre season game some 4000 tickets were given away.

If this is true it adds to the Randle hiring excuse in a non flattering way.

Safe to say not many of the 6600 paid full price anyway. I was getting spammed on facebook for 2 4 1 tickets every time I opened it.

Who cares if it was given away?

Are the Sixers the first organisation to do a loss leader type strategy to drum up exposure, bring casual fans to a game and maybe do a membership drive?

And the Randle part....I never thought for a moment that 6000 attendees in one game was a sound rationale for changing Deshon for Jerome.

There are other logical reasons for the change.

Don't you trust your informants?

Actually them giving away tickets makes sense. I mean what I got from them hiring Jerome, and crediting the crowd for it, is more that they didn't think they'd get enough fans otherwise. Talk of 4000 given away tickets kind of lends credit to that.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Good on them for building up a crowd and maybe building brand for a casual fan who might go back. If they didn't it's all doom and gloom about crowd numbers. Wonder if they did school visits and sparked some public interest there.
Weren't they supposed to allocate players to clubs to integrate more with the basketball community, has that been done yet and who have gone where? Would think with nbl and juniors starting it would be a good time to have at least started.

For a pre-season game? I doubt they were banking on more than a few hundred paying. When do pre-season games ever sell a ton of tickets?

The game two nights earlier against the Breakers at TSA only had a crowd of about 600.

"The game two nights earlier against the Breakers at TSA only had a crowd of about 600."

That was because it was $28 per ticket to watch bench players play in a pre-season game.

I'm surprised 6k shows up even if they were all given tickets for free

If there was indeed 4000 tix given away someone has to pay for them. (Sixers)
Now of course we have an import's life ruined because of it.
Adelaide are shit.

Life ruined lol bit dramatic there. Imports get cut all the time the world over and in Europe teams are notoriously much more trigger happy than we are and over there sometimes clubs even stop paying imports altogether.

If anyone actually believes Taylor was cut for Randle because 6,000+ turned up to a pre-season game I've got a bridge to sell you.

actually feel sorry for the players, they are the victims of a muppet CEO, poor administration, useless communication from staff and ego driven owner. As a long term member my communication with the club this season has been the worst ever and that is saying something. No wonder they were giving tickets away, who even knew there was a game at the Arena i didn't until the day. Also would be interested in reading ALL the comments on FB instead of the one they choose to reveal, afraid of criticism much?

Do they have a media person? If so they should be sacked!

Actually the communication from the club has improved a lot.

"No wonder they were giving tickets away, who even knew there was a game at the Arena i didn't until the day."

The club sent several emails about it. They advertised it on FB/Twitter several times. Their players advertised it on FB. What more did you want, perhaps a carrier pigeon?

I like how people think the 6ers are this huge business with 100s of employees. I would be surprised if they had more than 10 office staff

Cool so you admit being a member and therefore receiving emails about the pre-season game but then deciding to post "who even knew there was a game at the Arena i didn't until the day". Hopefully next time you actually read your emails
