He's 6'4'? That the 4 Sydney had in mind?
Weaver last team in the G league were a very small team with a 6 8 Centre
He had good stats in Belgium not sure how strong that league is relative to NBL
maybe a cover for Newley and Kevin if they get injured
"good stats" is pushing it. 12ppg is not "good" for an American import. He'll be 10ppg for kings; could be an early candidate for first import to be sent home

Looks like an athletic energy guy. Strange signing but looks like we are trying to move as far away from last year's mistakes re: rebounding and hustle. I think a Tate-Moller-Bogut lineup is enticing if Tate and Moller can knock down open 3s.

He's undersized, doesn't fix their rebounding issues and when you start using terms like 'energy guy' and 'good teammate' as the main talking points in your media release, I wouldn't expect much production. Averaging 12 a game in a crappy league in Belgium says it all. It has to be a money thing with the new owners.

They still have an import/slot available so they not?
"Doesn't fix their rebounding issues" - averaged 8.4 rebounds per 40 at 6'4 over 4 college seasons.

I think the Kings said recently they'll be leaving the third import spot open for a player during the season.
Based completely on the brief highlight packages i just watched, he reminds me of Jaron Johnson

He doesn't fix their rebounding issues alone, no. Combined with Moller however he might. It's fair to say the Kings have spent a fortune on Bogut/Ware/Lisch/Newley combined, so I'm not shocked that Tate is not a big name, but no reason he can't be a contributor. I don't think any team is going to beat Melbourne in an import arms race right now anyway, so Tate can hopefully be a guy that compliments what we have already.
have the pacer paid the kings for bowen
I don't know but the NBL and the kings will get half each
He's only 23 so still room for improvement
He looks ok on YouTube but had some anger issues to get over.
His dad was ok player in his day and his mum was killed by her boyfriend when tate was a kid.
He might surprise a few people

with a stabbing?
Why would he do that?
That's a strange thing to say

No, he's the SF they wanted. Clearly still have a PF spot to fill.
If you look at this guy as a backup for Newley, then he appears to be a good signing.
Only point I reference I have for the Belgium league is Steindl, who average around 12~13 points IIRC. Which basically the same as his performance for the Crocs, so maybe a similar standard league?
A strange thing to say.
You're obviously not familiar with Perthworld's insignificant contributions.
Food for thought

If Sydney get a gun PF, the signing makes sense. If they don't, it doesn't.
As for the Belgian league, well Scott Christopherson was a bonafide star over there before coming to the NBL and stinking it up, so take that how you like.
Sydney may not get a third import and keep it open in case one of there big guns go down, Bogut, Lisch, Newley.

"Sydney may not get a third import and keep it open"
ROFL
Sydney have a spot to fill, currently have nobody capable of starting at the 4, and there are no locals available. Do the math.
Besides, its the only way things make sense. Why sign another SF unless they are committed to using the last slot on a gun PF.
Tate is a 3-4 man, I'd be keeping last spot open for first part season to see how Kickett, Moller, Newley and Tate go through the four. If Bogut goes down they will need an import five, rumour is that they have less money as well. Moller played the four spot very well for the chargers in there championship year in seabl. He’s long and athletic, went back to the three for Huskies to fit team structure. Newley is shorter but his experience and age he could do well at the four. Kay Wesley are the really only two quality fours at present. Melbourne look like Prather will start in the four spot.
Some these people posting are so cruel and ignorant. What does his mom's death have to do with this young man trying to live out his dream. Is your mother alive? If so hug her tell her you love her and be grateful.
Are any of you posters athletes? Especially the negative ones. Sounds like envy to me. What were YOU doing at 23 years old? Had you already earned your graduate degree? Were you getting paid to do something you loved? I would bet NOT!
