It really is the USA-B team now, Lillard probably the only guy who'd have a chance of making their best team, those ticket prices using LeBron and Steph vs Ben Simmons on the ads starting to look like a money grab.
&
Tristan Thompson is out for Team Canada.
I can see Serbia or Spain winning the world cup.

It's becoming a farce now. If you told the 100,000 ticket holders a year ago that this was the potential USA line up, you probably would have only just sold out Hisense. There is literally not one top line name now. Great players, sure. But not one guy whose name has any particular clout down here.

Yeah, this is definitely disappointing. I also think the US is unlikely to win the WC.
USA Basketball's response will be interesting, as this is basically how they ended up with bronze in Athens. Has all the effort they put into rebuild the brand, culture, and esteem of playing for Team USA gone down the drain with Coach K's exit? They should reward the players who have made themselves available for the WC when it comes to selecting the Olympic team.
WC team should look like:
Lillard/Walker
Beal/Mitchell/Gordon?
Harris/Taytum
Middleton/Millsap/Tucker
Turner/Lopez
Then if everyone's available take these guys to the Olympics:
Curry/Lillard/Walker
Harden/Beal
Leonard/Lebron
Durant/Harris/Middleton
AD/Turner
So Lillard, Walker, Beal, Harris, Middleton and Turner get spots they otherwise might not have.

Havent 'class actions' by fans in other sports occurred in situations like this?
Leonard and Durant won't be at the Olympics.
Anyway, plenty of people were warning about how foolish it was for these Melbourne games to be promoted using AAA US stars. The WC team is always mostly second tier with perhaps just one or two big names. They knew the risk was there, and specifically used Durant and Kyrie - two of the most unlikely to participate.
Honestly, they’re so lucky that at least Simmons is playing.
It was so obvious that the big names wouldn't come, nearly feel sorry for the suckers that shelled out major coin to go watch it.
Canada should still be good without Wiggins and Thompson. I predict that their starting line up could look like: PG - Cory Joseph, SG - Jamal Murray, SF - RJ Barrett, PF - Dwight Powell, C - Kelly Olynyk
They don't really have any true centers, but guys like Chris Boucher, Khem Birch, and Brandon Clarke could give teams trouble with their athleticism.

I don't think it was obvious. I mean, yuou look at any Team USA line up since NBA players were allowed in and they have at least a few AAA level Americans in those teams. This has literally none. Not a single player who;d I'd count as a 'name'.
But the people I called "haters" have turned out to be right, on ALL of it. It is very dissappointing. I have tickets to both games. Just gonna try to enjoy it for what it is.

How much did you shell out for the tix food for thought?
Unfortunately there'll be alot of true basketball fans like you who won't be so positive.
