Should Cairns sign LiAngelo Ball?

LiAngelo is not as highly rated as LaMelo but could be good for publicity. He also was a UCLA recruit before Lavar chose to take him elsewhere.

With Cairns not having signed many players, and generally not in championship contention, could this be an option? Been lots of talk about LaMelo's 4.5m Instagram followers, will LiAngelo isn't too shabby either with 2.4m.

Would give more possibilities with the family's TV show, the Ball derby etc.

Could be a great promo for the NBL and Cairns.

He's terrible, a bench college player, mainly brought in to appease dad so junior Ball would follow. If he was any good why hasn't he played anywhere decent since getting out of Chinese prison.
Might get a gig playing for South in premier league, that's all.

Aren't a lot of good NBL players former "bench college players". I think H Froling fit into that category.

Hmmm, Froling a chance to get drafted and had a great rookie year. Ran into some road blocks and didn't hang around just like his siblings, knew nbl was waiting. Angelo went to some workouts and absolutely stank. If he wasn't a Ball would he even be talked about. Again, what's he done the last few years, played in daddy's crap league, turned down the European powerhouse London Lions to focus on G league now. A few premier league players have played in Britain, not bad mouthing them but theres Angelos level there. In fact he was probably too scared about being shown up there. Absolutely no way is he nbl standard import.

Ok, so that would make him ineligible for the Next Stars program.

So the question is whether he's worth burning an import slot on?
And for Cairns, I'd say that's a definite no.
Ok, so they tend to go shopping for cheaper unproven imports, but they still need them. Not as much local talent means they are more reliant on those slots, not less.

He's be more of a chance at a club like Sydney, where they either don't fill the 3rd import slot, or go for a cheapo option.
And by the sounds of it, he's not even up to that standard.

Maybe he should try for an NBL1 import slot?

Yes Cairns and Liangelo share very similar traits.

Liangelo is cheap.
Liangelo's brand is worthless.
Liangelo is unrated.
No one else wants Liangelo.

Whilst I understand your points and I don't want him here either but Terrence Ferguson did next to nothing at NBL level and as for Cairns, surely everyone remembers Scoochie Smith and how he couldn't even start for Cairns, surely this dude is atleast at Scoochie's level, otherwise why are we talking about it?

Just had ankle surgery I believe. Apparently an ongoing injury that probably should have been taken care of earlier. Will probably burn another year rehabbing

I think he cops a lot of flack, but is likely the best shooter out of all of the boys (certainly better form wise) just not as talented overall. He was a solid scorer in his time in Lithuania and should have the chance to be a pro. Just needs to be in one spot for a couple of years and put the work in.

Couldn't be any worse from 3 than taipans last 3 point specialist import
