Premier League Round 5 Preview and Power Rankings
Power Rankings
1. Forestville (4-0)
Hard to deny them top spot now after dismantling North on the weekend. Took them out of the game early with a devastating display both ends and took the crowd right out of it. Majok showing he's a class above but the rest of the starting 5 proving more than capable.
2. Norwood (5-0)
Haven't put a foot wrong and had a comprehensive win over West who were previously undefeated. Look like they've gelled early and have strong contributions from their starting 5. Will be challenged this weekend down in Mount Gambier.
3. Mount Gambier (2-1)
No game on the weekend but we will find out more about them against Norwood this week.
4. Eastern (2-2)
Couple of wins has the Mavs right up there in the rankings. Their imports may have surpassed Norths as the best in the league with huge numbers against Sturt. Will need to knock off some better teams to maintain this ranking but for now we'll reward their streak with the number 4 spot.
5. West Adelaide (3-1)
Got Kubank back from the US early but ran into a red hot Norwood side. For the first time this season looked as though they struggled to score. No doubt an aberration for what is a quality veteran side.
6. North Adelaide (2-2)
Took their lumps against a side looking like a class above the rest of the league. Still have a powerful trio in Starling, Dowdell and McVeigh that will prove a handful for most teams.
7. Southern (1-2)
Handled business against Centrals with Drmic scoring heavily. May need more contributors to challenge the better teams and will need some bigger scalps before moving up these rankings.
8. Woodville (1-3)
Finally got off the duck by beating South on the road. Big performance from Clippinger off the bench and Stanbridge has been consistent for them. Will be looking to get on a roll now.
9. Centrals (1-2)
Played a couple of decent sides after an opening round win over Woodville and have fallen short. Still look to potentially be the "best of the rest". Big weekend ahead with a double header.
11. Sturt Sabres (0-5)
11. South Adelaide (0-3)
Not awarding a 10th place as neither team deserves it. Sturt losing at home to Eastern wouldn't have been in the plans and South seemingly were barely competitive against Woodville. Will be looking forward to playing each other to get a win, I'm not sure either has much else to look forward to.
Saturday games:
North vs South
Can't see this one being competitive as North look to get back on track. Allmon a lone bright spark in what is an underwhelming South roster. Interior D will be an issue for the Panthers against Norths size.

Southern vs Woodville
Both teams will be happy to have had a win last week and will be looking to carry on momentum. Woodville spread the load amongst many contributors while Southern rely on a few for the heavy lifting. Not sure why Southern didn't have many bench guys last week but at some point will need the depth. Clippinger looks to be finding his feet after a breakout game.

Mount Gambier vs Norwood
Game of the round. Norwood proving me wrong with two great wins the past fortnight and Mount Gambier obviously playing to a different schedule. They appeared better in their last hit out with Southern and I expect they'll be tough to beat at home, however Norwoods experience will nullify the road game factor. Andrew Webber for a game winning 3.
Norwood by 2.
Centrals vs West
An interesting matchup with both teams coming off losses. West will be hoping to score more freely this game after being held to 67. Centrals play at a fast pace so might be the team to get tham back on track but I don't think it'll be a walk over.

Forestville vs Sturt
Uh-oh this one could get ugly. No one has held Forestville under 100 so far and I can't see Sturt being the team to do it. Nor can I see them putting up much of a fight as they're outmatched in every position.

Sunday:
Centrals vs Eastern
Lions with the Starplex double this weekend, will be interesting to see how they are able to back up with Eastern having the night off. The key will be limiting the Mavericks imports but Centrals may have the athletes to do it.
