Perth v Adelaide Feb 15

This round just keeps on getting better. Pull up a chair, knock the top off a coldie and sit back to feast on another fine game. If anyone has fingernails at the end of this round they are obviously not NBL fans.

Perth are top of the table with a game in hand at the moment. Adelaide fans are booking annual leave....at the moment.

Last night's game made things interesting, very interesting. Perth can now drop a game either against Adelaide, or against Melbourne and still secure top spot, but hey, if you Big Larry writing the script, why not leave it to the final game. What could be better than "fine" Cotton dropping a 3 over Ware as the siren goes to finish ahead by one and regain top spot. BOOM! Instant highlight reel at MVP night.

Perth can do no wrong at the moment. They just can't seem to lose. They are like that mate we all have who is as ugly AF, but who walks into a night club and has the babes dripping of him. They're the guy who finds a wallet in the street with $100, but returns it and the owner gives them $1,000 reward. The guy who hooks up with some Swedish backpacker only to find out her dad owns Sweden's largest boutique brewery and needs a new GM.

Adelaide are strugglers. They had the opportunity to lock in fourth spot last round, but instead of taking Brisbane out with a sucker punch, they ended up choking on a chicken bone..... when they were dining on steak!

Some good news out of the Adelaide camp should inspire them "Wiley Coyote" re-signed for next season and Sobes announced on IG his partner is expecting. The Lightning GF game should be compulsory viewing for Sixers to inspire them.

There is a saying in the NBL that you need to go through Perth to get an NBL Flag. Well Sixers, you need to go through Perth to get fourth spot. Had badly do you want it? Or do you want to serve it up to the Bullets on a silver platter with a cheeky Chardonnay?

A Perth loss tonight won't hurt Perth as badly as an Adelaide loss. Perth are in finals and probably need a loss to get a bad game out of their system. In finals, a bad game will hurt them.
An Adelaide loss will hurt more than having Bill Shorten as your new Stepdad. They can still make finals but need those Kiwi Cousins to knock off the banana benders.

Well Sixers, if Lightning can show you how to do it, you can do it.

Adelaide won the very first game at Perth Arena and Perth a due a shocker. Chewy on Cotton's boot.

Sixers in like Flynn, Sobes to have a blinder and call his son Bryce..... Sixers by 3

Great write up Jack, very amusing and has me even more pumped for this game.

I'm most interested in what Wiley Coyote turns up, the one than looked on track for 100 (go back and watch I think he had 15 points in 4 minutes) or the one that did sweet fuck all for the majority after that.

Also fascinated about Drmic of whom played great against Melbourne but then didn't see the ball in the second half and Conger seems to be a great opponent for Perth, he's always fun to watch (even though his numbers were dreadful last time in Perth).

But for my Wildcats I'm only intrigued by Nick Kay, he looked a bit sore against the Kings and wasn't moving as freely as earlier in the season and had a down game, was that just tired and a shocker or will he remind us why so many think he's worthy of an All-NBL first team spot (hearing Shawn Long could be taking that)

"Last night's game made things interesting, very interesting. Perth can now drop a game either against Adelaide, or against Melbourne and still secure top spot,"

This was always the case. If Melbourne had won last night, all Perth had to do was beat them on Sunday to finish top, regardless of tonight's result. Last nights result means that if Perth wins tonight, they secure top spot immediately.

If Perth win tonight, how much Melbourne have to win by on Sunday to get top spot will depend on how much the Wildcats win by tonight.

If Perth beat Adelaide by 1 point, United will need to win by around 26-27, depending on how high or low-scoring the two games are. If the Cats beat Adelaide by more, obviously Melbourne's target increases.

Another fantastic preview.
Let's hope that Sobes gets the chewy off his hand in last quarter and can pass off to a team mate in better position.
I think Joey may been been suggesting similar in today's Tiser

If Perth lose tonight, then the Melbourne-Perth game determines more than top position for the winner. The loser most likely would finish third, as Sydney (only game for the round) are very likely to beat Cairns (2nd game for the round). So home court advantage against Sydney would be lost for the loser.

If Perth win tonight, it means they're guaranteed to finish top 2. However, Melbourne would still be at risk of finishing 3rd.

Perth to eke out the win tonight.

Actually don't mind the bullets, finals are a different ball game. Season just helps you get the chance to compete for the championship.

Finals are are different ball game. Patterson is a gun and a must keep, would slot nicely in Perth though? Cotton and a gun centre in Long? Kay and Norton as the starting 5?

Drimic has chosen the right time of year to activate beast mode. But the Sixers didn't finish off the half overly well and the inability to finish off quarters hurt the 6ers badly last week against United.

The season it has been unpredictable to know which Sixers team will rock up from one half to the next, hopefully it’s the right one and this isn’t our last half of 18/19.

Thanks Pete. Its still not over for the Sixers,

I will be cheering for the other results cos I'd love a matchup vs the Sixers for the drama. Even though I do hate them at times. Same as I hate NZ at times.

Great team, great franchise.

The NBL should model themselves on the Wildcats.

Best of luck.

If you'll excuse me, I'll go cry into my Sixers gear.

Sixers can't close out games when you have sobey, Johnson and Conger as your "go to" guys. Lack composure and too impulsive.

Moore was spent (only been back for a week after time off) which is why he made bad decisions on defense and fouled shooters.

Surely Brisbane don't choke tomorrow, not against Breakers.

Moore was horrible in the last quarter, fouls, turnovers. Drimic was good but like all 36ers don't turn up in second half. Perth’s to lose from here, can’t see that happening.

C'mon guys stop bagging Johnson and Sobey when they are left carrying the can. They played more minutes and were feeling it. Maybe Joey could have given Deng more than 3.05 mins and Johnson might have brought us home.

Sixers consistently fade with their perimeter shooting in the second half and particularly in the fourth when the pressure is on. Joey seemingly has not addressed that. Perth just kept hitting from the perimeter consistently.

However the season ends Sixers have done extremely well given their budget limitations in an NBL comp where things are not all equal!

Well Done Harry, Complains to the refs non stop, flays his arms around when he is stripped of the ball, kicks out and elbows like a petulant child and screams like a goat to get a foul payed on him... Lady's and gentleman I give you Rookie of the year....What a joke...

Harry has tried to kick a few times throughout the season. But as long as you shake hands at the end of the game I guess you stay classy

Totally agree ShortersBiceps. He gets it from his parents especially Mummy who is a total nutcase when she has been coaching QLD North at AJC Womens nationals. If she had of being coaching Canberra in WNBL Grand Final the other night when Adelaide got that last second winner, security would have been escorting her out of the stadium after the refs had ejected her if the refs were still standing.

When your down around 12 points the
last thing you want is an unsportsmanlike foul to gift the opposition freethrows and possession, but gees Greg Hire changed the gane with that.

As soon as someone made a stand all the momentum went perths way.

With how emotional they are, Adelaide seem really easy to rattle and take away their focus.

Minute spreads really interesting in this game

Perth looks like they'll ride their starters hard come playoffs (Adelaide too if they make it)

Not that his performance last night would have factored into the MVP calculations. But I mean why would it? It's not like that was an important game with loads at stake for both teams. Games like that should have no bearing on MVP voting right? What an awesome system. While we are at it I think we should decide the NBL champions after 4 of the 5 games of the series. The last one is pretty meaningless.

meanwhile Casper is missing layups and chucking up bricks in a loss to the bottom team that might of cost his team top spot but the votes were already in so no worries

Bit harsh on Sobey, he is not a point guard, and is playing out of position due to poor recruiting by the sixers. He would do a lot more damage IMO if he was played on the wing and allowed to get out and run, him playing the point has taken away his natural game.

Is Froling getting suspended for kicking out at Hire?

NBL are soft on these things, yet throws unsportsmanlike foul for those run away fouls.
